Today we check out MX Linux. It's a wonderful distro based on Debian, their own repos, and flatpaks. Customized Xfce desktop environment. I am using my Dell G15 Laptop, Endeavour OS, and VirtManager for the virtual machine install.

I have distro-hopped for 3 years-- and a LOT of distros... but I have had MX for about two weeks now- and LOVE IT-- tried everything- no glitches AT ALL- works perfectly. I love the snapshot- and turning MY setup (setting, preferences, etc. all) into an ISO file-- now if my machine bites the dust I can boot directly into it and it will look exactly as I have it now- on a different machine-- or i can even take it and show my Sis and others.. It has UNLIMITED customization options.. easy control- and any tool you can think of. BUT It's all set up and NOTHING gets in the way-- I do lots of video/audio and graphic work and it's been PERFECT... I could even turn it into AVLINUX by adding just a few more apps.. I"M STICKING WITH THIS ONE..

runwiththedolphin the lead developer has his own youtube channel. Set up MX live version the way you would when you have installed MX. So when it's installed you don't have to do it again. It is offered as an option when you install MX.

I, too, love Arch (via ArcoLinux) but also multiboot with MX and Mint.

Hi Jeremy. As a Mac user, have you decided whether or not Linux will be a daily driver for you going forward?

I moved over from the Mac shortly after El Capitan was released because it felt like the iOS-ish walled-garden was slowly beginning to close in around me and I didn't like that.

What swayed me was Linux's openness and freedom to customize my desktop to better align with my workflows. My view is that technology should be an enabler rather than an impediment. There is no walled-garden in the Linux realm.

I understand Apple's need to better integrate their products. If you look back at the company's campaigns from the time the first Macintosh was released on through the 90s (this was the decade of "The power to be your best").

While it took me some time to adjust to Linux, I must say that it's been a few years now since I've needed to use Windows or use a Mac in my personal and professional life. My old Mac Mini (2011) runs Linux just fine.

I think it would be too confusing and "strange" for a brand-new to Linux user, but with any experience in Linux at all, it is terrific. If I ever move from Mint Cinnamon, this will be my distro. I run three distros on separate machines: Mint, Zorin, and MX. They're all great, but the first two are better for newbies.
