In today's culture, marriage is often disregarded, and there is much confusion around what the Catholic Church teaches on it.

Here is the Sacrament of Matrimony in a nutshell, covering when Jesus instituted it as a sacrament, the family as a symbol of the Most Holy Trinity and ending with the Church's views on contraceptives and homosexuality.

being homosexual is fine, it's not a sin jeez
also, this is not helpful for abuse victims whatsoever. saying "marriage should be forever, and you shouldn't separate after you get married" will make abuse victims think being abused by their spouse is fine as long as they follow the "will of god" and don't divorce
also, not wanting to have children is perfectly valid, some people don't want to deal with stress of having children

You are describing Holy Matrimony. The biblical literature never describes anything like this. The "sacrament" of Holy Matrimony was developed by and after Augustine, between 400 and 1100. Read your canon law: there are different kinds of marriage, only one of which is Holy Matrimony. I have a natural marriage, since I don't consider that the promises my wife and I made include any miraculous meaning or benefit. Also, the giving of consent by the woman of recent origin. All biblical references describe the woman as being taken or carried off. If there is a covenant or betrothal described in Scripture, it is between fathers or father and bridegroom. Divorces also are only by the man with the approval of other men. Jesus never institutes anything which touches on Augustine's invention--or discovery?--of Holy Matrimony.

Excuse me? That is not the truth. Just because two people can’t or don’t want to have children, it could be for homosexuality like me, or just not wanting children, does NOT mean that the marriage is not valid! That is just horrible, discriminative and rude!
