Tutorial: How to Make a Rope Bowl

In this video: learn how to make a rope bowl with cotton cording, thread, and your sewing machine!

SUPPLIES:
* cotton cording, macrame rope, or bulky yarn (video uses cotton 3/16" clotheslines and 3mm macrame cord, amount will depend on size of project)
* jeans sewing machine needle
* a few spools of all-purpose poly thread (amount will depend on size of project)
* sewing machine

Another fun tip: make lids by making a flat circle that will fit the diameter of the top of the bowl. You can make a knob by leaving a length of cord out when you start and when you are done tie it in a knot and trim! You can make the lid convex by shaping it with your fingers.

Hi. I have made several bowls now, but I seem to have a constant issue. Despite starting out flat, the bottom/centre always ends up as a dome, do you have any idea why this might be happening ? I would appreciate any help with this issue.. love the videos. Excellent tutorials.

I am thinking about making one of these for a laundry basket... has anyone out there made a tall basket? If so how strong was it? I'm going to use thick polyester thread, make thicker handles and a frabic liner for inside but I'm very interested on how durable it will be..we'll see
