A thing to note: With some VERY RARE exceptions, Hognoses will only bite something if they want to eat it. They are more likely to hiss, bluff strike, and play dead if they're being defensive.
Also, like some others have pointed out, they are rear fanged and mildly venomous, but for most people that shouldn't be a problem. HOWEVER, I've heard that if you're allergic to bee stings, you should exercise increased caution around hognoses as that allergy may cause a more severe reaction to their venom.
