Earth rod resistance measurement using digital megger

Earthing system is a Connecting a wire between ground and electrical equipment

In earthing system main parts/components are

1- Earth rods & accessories
2- Earth pit
3- Earth clamps

Earth value is measured in OHMS and these value is different from soil to soil.

Few soils are listed below as

1- Alluvial soil
2- Black cotton soil
3- Red Soil
4- Laterite soil
5- mountainous or forest soils
6- Arid /desert soil
7- Saline and alkaline soil etc

So we see different earths listed above these earth resistance values also different due to different soil nature

In order to create low resistance path of the circuit we required earth value less than one ohms . To achieve this we insert the earth rod (usually copper rod ,stainless steel ) inside the ground.
