First way is the more accurate way. Wingspan doesn't always work and I think it might be because our shoulder widths are all different. Wingspan was way short for me. First method was bang on. I have tried the "dudley" method on numerous people and its always almost perfect.

I remember learning that your wingspan is almost the same as your height, that might work as well

It possibly the simplest way and most effective

I do the same then usually start .5” shorter trying to account for dloop. It’s usually spot on

Don’t forget, the release you use will also affect it, I gained a near inch of draw going from wrist strap index trigger to a hinge

The way I've always done it was place an arrow at your sternum. Place both hands together palms touching straight in front of you and measure where your middle fingers end. 28.5 in btw

I just go to a store and grab an arrow and hold it like I was pulling back the bow

I find that with the wingspan for me, it wasn't accurate because by that, it was 27, but I found it short, and I was getting pain on my elbow so I added an inch, and 28 is really comfortable and pain free.

So by the Dudley method I came up with 31”. By wingspan I came up with 29.8”. Archery shop measured me at 29.5. So is draw length more of a starting point and adjust from there?

I have always used wingspan -15 diveded 2. 76.25-15=61.25/2=30.625

I was always told I should subtract a little bit from what the wing span measurement was, I guess to account for string loop/ heavier clothing, and so all the load wasn’t on the rotator cuff??My wingspan measures 74.5”. But the shop always set me at 28” I had to talk them into putting an extra 1/2” on there. I guess they refused to believe that my wingspan was as wide as it was for being 5’11”. So should I be shooting longer draw than 28.5?

How does axle to axle effect draw length? I have a 31 axle to axle and a 28 axle to axle set at the same draw length but the 28 feels to short meaning I struggle to hold steady.

How did you come up with the divide by 2.5? I would have thought 2. But I'm freaking terrible at math. Are you taking your body's width in consideration with 2.5?

I feel like the wing span method assumes perfect symmetry which not everyone has wouldn’t you also have to mark a center instead of using math to be completely accurate

What if your fingernails r longer at the time you measure your wingspan, or you didn't pop your fingers that day 😂😂😂 run little buck run

I found the dudley methods was more accurate for myself using the wingspan it gave me like 28.5 while the dudly gave me 29.5 i shoot a 29.75

OK cool, now how do you measure the draw length on a bow?
Say someone brings in an old bow and asks “ is my draw length correct”
You measure them and then you go to the bow which has a mod system not easily findable on the internet. Do you proceed to put the bow in a draw board and then what?

Dude, layout a longer than normal arrow like a yardstick. Load it on your own bow and draw to a comfortable length and have your buddy ready the yardstick. Fool proof draw length indicator.

The second way I measure 28 but I shoot way better at 29 I must be an oddball but I've known that my whole life LOL

Don't tell the Apache, Lakota, Comanche that. They proved different. And under more dangerous situations. Lolol.
Enjoy your day youngsters.
