Chuck, thank you for all you do. I can only imagine how much work you put into this passion project of documenting FSD but I just want you to know it doesn’t go unnoticed!

Thank you, Chuck! You are one of the reasons FSD will come sooner than later. That (AND you) will be responsible for MANY saved lives and avoided injuries!

Chuch...at many times you are so comfortable in your conversation with the passenger who accompanies you! At times the conversation is physically like a conversation in a living room and not like a driver in action on the streets of a city. Impressive, especially being one of those drivers who are more focused and attentive when they are driving. It really is impressive that you are having a social experience while an autonomous car is dominant in driving the vehicle.

Just FYI, the stereo is reversed with Chuck on the right and AJ on the left, which is a bit disconcerting with earbuds on.

Great entertainment as usual. Getting better with every update.

Long time follower here. Unfortunately I had to end my FSD subscription. 12.5.4.2 has probably been the worst experience I have had since the 12.3.6 wide rollout. I couldn’t afford to buy FSD to get an upgrade in the future. And since they are leaving AI3 behind I find it best to wait until they can figure AI3 out. Which I have a feeling will be a long time as Tesla is only training on AI4 data and are prioritizing that to reach V13 unsupervised. My estimate is AI3 will be behind well over a year before it’s worth purchasing again. By then I expect the performance not to be unsupervised for AI3 but somewhat close to it. Hope I am wrong.

By far, my fave feature of 12.5.6.3 is the graceful transition to an exit lane from the highway. Previously it was abrupt and felt like the car would hit the side rail, but now the shift into an exit lane is gradual and comfortable.

I appreciate your commentary. Thanks!

A speaker used as a microphone has the same acoustic qualities as the speaker itself. In some ways, speakers can be better microphones than some microphones, with a much warmer and welcoming tone. The disadvantages of using a speaker as a microphone are:

1) price,
2) very low voltage produced; it needs a transimpedance-like preamp input (current input, as opposed to voltage), or a step-up transformer,
3) limited bandwidth; usually microphones go all the way to 20kHz or higher, while most speakers drop down at 3 to 5 khz,
4) they are not directional like cardioid or super-cardioid microphones; so they pick up ambient noise from all directions almost equally, and,
5) they are a bit bulky, and can hide your face.

So speakers will never be found used as microphones at recording studios, or covering the faces of singers on stage; but they would be perfect for hearing sirens through.
Bit of trivia: A speaker can even be used as a speaker AND as a microphone at the same time. The design of the two-way electronics is challenging, but it HAS been done.

Got it today and it is far and away the best update yet. The only issue I had was lane staging. Otherwise flawless, smooth and finally an end to the constant throttle push. Nice video chuck!

Hey my friend I love your videos. They’re so thorough and awesome. I have a Tesla model Y and I just got the update you rock man.

Just got this version today!
I’m in NY, and 12.5.4 still stops a bit abruptly for red lights here, along with being pretty jerky on the highways at times (such as taking exits), so fingers crossed this build fixes those issues! 🤞

Great drive btw! Wow, that was practically unsupervised

A couple of my own observations. You mentioned truck tire debris and I've seen mine avoid things like that (although not consistently). We took a direct hit from hurricane Milton and my car was avoiding even relatively small sticks and debris in the road to the point it would go over the lane lines to get around it. Thought that was pretty impressive. The power was out for 2-3 days and it was also treating traffic lights with no power like 4 way stops as it should. Not sure if it did that because of other traffic cues but... it did do it right with the power out. I was on 12.5.4.1 at the time, HW4.

Currently running 12.5.4.2 & totally relate to your first issue of the car, not being able to recognize traffic speed accurately 40 mph+. Completely agreed that it pokes around too much and just needs to commit to a pull out. It wants to feel out traffic too much still.

Thanks for getting this out 🎉 I see some non-early access people are getting it already, hoping it goes wide!

FSD has been honoring blinkers for merging traffic for quite a while, even on HW3 and for us peons.

16:11 again! The lane lines! Look down at the lane lines.

I’ve noticed that FSD “follows the rules” sometimes where a human wouldn’t. If you look at the way the exit lane lines are painted, you can see it stays solid — for too long. And FSD just obeys that solid until it breaks.

I would love to see AJ's HW3 car on the first impressions route
