On Monday, November 7th, firefighters received reports of a commercial structure fire at the 66700 block of 5th Street in the city of Desert Hot Springs. The first arriving engine company reported heavy fire coming from the 2nd floor of the commercial building. A second alarm was requested and the fire was controlled in approximately 25 minutes. Fortunately, the structure was confirmed unoccupied after conducting a primary and secondary search. Firefighters remained on scene for about two hours to perform mop-up and overhaul. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.
