That's not even a "surround and drown", that's a "wait 'till it burns itself out.

What? Have all the fire suppression sprinkler installation companies gone out of business in the USA?

I feel sorry for the firefighters who are faced with such a disaster. The heat must have been overpowering and there was no chance of saving anything. All that they could really do, was make a show of firefighting, but mostly protect surrounding buildings.

“Pipeline” Co .... hmm 🤔 some sort of construction Chief Quimby 😂

Nice zooms in on the guy with the worst job at the fire. My department's ladders were controllable from the ground so I never saw anyone stand on that little platform although one of the aerials had one.

Abc7 always has the best coverage and spectacular commentators!

Not much to do here. Protect exposures, control sparks emitting from the fire, and secure sufficient water supply to wet down as much fire as possible. This, obviously, will be many hours before it will be out, but looks like it is pretty much under control. The #4 side wall looks like it is the only exposure wall to be concerned with. Depending on the contents, you may have to let it burn itself out.

Looks like the firewall is holding. Too bad the building didn't have sprinkers. The entire building has not been lost, just the one tenant space.

Did anyone see Tommy and Henry drive away from the scene?

The chap on top of the ladder looks very vulnerable (and brave) and the heat must have made it very uncomfortable.

Why is it at major fires in America, that it needs so many fire fighting vehicles to support so few active hose lines ?

The trucks with the tanks in them are Fleet Maintenance trucks. They go to the job site to maintenance machines and other trucks. They have oil, antifreeze, gas, gear in the tanks.

That building seems to be gutted completely. Even if they had insurance on the building, what about what was contained inside? Again, why is there no fire suppression equipment to stop the building from burning?

Yeah.. definitely serious... god bless the fire fighters for their service... Robert New Jersey here pine 🌲 barrens. Ocean county

At this point just let it burn itself out. It's contained within the walls of the building and that water is just evaporating. Concentrate on the exposures.

All this for the owner to get a spiffy new warehouse through insurance claims.

Stupid question, but on a fire like this (total loss, roof cave in) why couldn't they do a couple water drops from helicopters like they do for some forest fires?
