A lot of people use the word without knowing what it means. Getting tricked is NOT entrapment. "They didn't tell me they were a cop", well duh, that'd defeat the purpose of being plain clothed/undercover. If someone was threatened or otherwise coerced into doing something illegal that they wouldn't otherwise do, that's entrapment.

I am currently 75 years old and grew up in Florida. My best friend's dad was a Florida Highway Patrol Captain and the FPH was using unmarked cars at that time. They didn't have the lights on them like they do now but they did have FHP tags and the patrolman were in uniform. I enjoy your podcasts which I have been watching since you were doing them for Miami PD. Keep up the great work.

If you aren’t doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about.

Great topic! I don't think I'll ever race a Mustang in Florida. lol, I love how the FHP has Mustangs, Chargers, and Challengers. Now they need Corvettes and Camaros. 😄

Your character is what you do when no one is watching so when people are spinning around unmarked vehicles they are displaying their character and the officers are just documenting it.

Indiana has been using unmarked Mustangs off and on since the 80's. Usually pretty cool guys, they know their cars and love talking to car guys.

*Patrolling alone, nah. If they roll up next to a civilian and try to line up with them to encourage to break the law, and once they do, the police stop them. Then yes.*

I've seen many comments where people claim entrapment because the police aren't obvious. Example: officer dresses up in construction attire and assists speed enforcement from the bucket of a bucket truck.
Another example: officer in plain clothes/costume presses the crosswalk button and crosses the street to see if drivers yield.
Another example: officer in plain clothes stands at the street corner to observe drivers using their cellphones.

None of these are entrapment, but there will always be comments suggesting it is. In reality, it's chronic traffic violators upset that the government employs different tactics to catch them doing what they otherwise do on a daily basis.

Something that wasn't fully addressed in the video: the mustangs may be used primarily for speed enforcement and aggressive driving enforcement, but it's not impossible for a trooper to be in a position to "race." As long as the trooper isn't the one initiating, it may not be entrapment. There are plenty of knuckleheads who will pull up next to fast cars and try to race them.

obviously, not entrapment it's just cheap for it to be used for a regular traffic unit patrol in MY OWN Opinion, it's like quick pitching in baseball, not wrong but annoying but I have to respect it.

the best "auto civetta" (literally translated is decoy car, you, in English, use the term undercover) is a vehicle that lends itself to hiding like a coquette. Living in a state where the service car does not follow certain models (even if I associate Alfa Romeo with the Gazelles of the Carabinieri Mobile Unit or the Panthers of the Police Mobile Squad) it is much easier to choose from BMW 320d Series sedans (I repeat sedans because the Touring version is used a lot by the Highway Patrol so it is already in the sights of those who are more attentive) to the best-selling Fiat in circulation. Strange cases of undercover cars: Porsche Cayenne recently seen in Rome (for the escort of politicians not so much for operations) and Subaru Impreza WRX 10 years ago but I think it has now been demolished and I assume it had been seized by someone who liked to race (present on the Tube), sorry to be late on the reply and on video, but i finally catch your channel after lost almost all the channels i subscribed

Man, when I was a kid I was driving from NJ to Miami in my 5.0 at 3am in SC and a SCHP Mustang unmarked gets next to me but a little begind me as if to race. I down shift and smoke his ass then he flips down a Blue Visor Light! I freaked out. He was cool though, I showed him paperwork that I was leaving to USCG Bootcamp within weeks and he let me go and actually showed me his car. I then got a ticket in GA at 4am, haha! I went in to a great career in LE but never wrote anyone for speeding😉

I saw a 4 door Volvo station wagon state patrol vehicle in Washington State 20 years ago. My guess is that it was used in hustling drugs and was siezed but the HP and turned into a cruiser
