This is one of the best videos I've seen about how the sun and the tilt of the earth + rotation/revolution affects the midnight sun/24-hours of darkness in the opposite hemispheres. Excellent. it's not dark in the winter all day long. during the winter the upper part of Norway does get light, but it's more like pre dawn twilight right before sun rise. as for the summer in the upper part of Norway, yes it's true that it doesn't get dark, but it doesn't stay bright outside all night long either, rather the sun light is, equivalent to a sun set.
