I've just been reading The Dawn of Everything (The Dawn of Everything : A New History of Humanity:Graeber and Wengrow ) and this resonates with the opening thesis of the book: Our imaginations have been colonized, but prehistory shows that people can and have imagined other ways of living--and successfully instituted them, creating long-lived and equitable societies.
It was for this reason that when developing a plan to reduce our carbon footprint by 7% a year, we began developing a new narrative around this reduction; Decarbonizing can make life better. Not just a little better, but a lot better. It is couched in examples which are very much of the day. Ideas like work from home and developing local business. This is a "stealth" way of introducing the narrative of degrowth. Gasoline at >$2.20/l and inflation of 5-8% are only going to help.
One of the things I want to do is re-purpose those fantastic Second World War posters like Rosie the Riveter proclaiming "We can do it!" Using them to promote degrowth/decarbonizing would bring both a nostalgic and familiar propaganda into the present. And many of the ideas being communicated, like the calls to recycle all metals and plant victory gardens, are messages we can and should be hearing today.
And don't get me started on the right to repair. We held a repair cafe two weeks back and had a great time. And a lot of stuff stayed out of the waste/recycle stream.

I have been researching DeGrowth for quite a while now for an extracurricular (policy debate) and wondered if you wouldn’t mind sending a script if you have one. The way you describe degrowth is very succinct and would be helpful if it would be possible for me to reference it. Regardless, thank you for the incredible video.

Excellent clip Vlad! Clear case for degrowth! What I feel like it's not covering is which age groups are the best at starting the revolution.

Though I don't agree with degrowth this is a well constructed and researched video

I like this "voluntary" notion... If it is really voluntary - no one prevents you from choosing simplicity for yourself and advertise for more volunteers, but what you are going to do about those who do not want to volunteer? How are you going to get to this "workers hire managers" stage? I assume current owners will have to "voluntarily" hand over theirs businesses? It is not literally marxism or socialism but it definitely belongs to same family, with all basic flaws.
