Some of my characters have done a complete 180 from conception to now. Most often it's softening and humanizing my angrier characters but every now and then a cinnamon bun becomes a bitter monster.

I think you clearly made Frankie and Marina the vengeful once

One of my characters started out as a splatoon OC that was just a full on punching bag, now she's just turned into my awkward little techie that doesn't know how to talk to people and pops up in whatever universe I need her in. Definitely fun to see the evolution of characters throughout the years lol

One of my OCs went from:
Being an independent healer and also partialy a magical creature from getting bitten by said creature
to
being part of a convent of healers and having an ability to heal people with the power of flute music.

My Viking boy Luke went from a silly lil' Jack Sparrow-esc guy to a really sad alcoholic man who misses his lost girlfriend.

"How much has your characters changed over the development?"
Eyes begin glowing as I'm about to dump 7 hours worth of the characters history, and all the lore required to understand the characters design changes

Flanderization is an inescapable inevitability that no artist wishes to acknowledge

One of my OCs (that’s actually a adaptation of a character from the brazilian folklore) was part of my story because he originally was a young guy part of a grup of anti humans that brainwashed the mc, he was one of the only ones who “knew” the truth about the mc and sometimes stole his sneackers to make your footsteps to confuse the mcs old allies. Now the story completely changed, and there is no anti humans anymore, and this character became an old grumpy guy who lived 500 hundred years :D

When I look at Vector in this specific illustration I honestly sense major Varian (tangled) vibes, and I love it because he's the cutest nerd Disney has ever made.

I've got plenty of characters that have changed, but the one who has changed the most is my character Lorelei Syreni. She was initially just a carbon copy of Adagio Dazzle right down to major design elements, but over time changed into the character she is now, with her own design and personality. She tends to hop between various story universes but she is always some kind of mermaid, even in the book I'm writing. She also went from just "a major flirt" to "a momma bear who will fight to the death for her family but still a flirt who knows how to look good in mom jeans"

I kinda went the opposite route, from a calm origin to a dramatic one.
My character started out as a singer, based on a butchered Len doodle. Then I realized that I would have to sing if I wanted him to do so, and sadly I don’t have that skill.
Nowadays he’s a researcher! Venturing across realms studying lore and Artifacts!
But he is starting to recover some of that musical inspiration again.

One of my favorite OCs is basically a modern version of Link from the Legend of Zelda.

He started out as kind of a side character/love interest in the story, a little nerdy guy who had no idea what was going on, was scared of everything, and couldn’t do anything right.

He’s still a little nerdy guy who’s scared of everything, but now he’s the main character, has a tragic backstory, is really tough when he needs to be, is actually a valuable member of the team, and occasionally gets sort of possessed by his past lives.

Okay, so I have two characters that essentially switched roles. I had a French-American spy character that infiltrated this school as a substitute teacher for reasons lost to the sands of time, and a small-time gang-banger that decided to ruin this spy for reasons lost to the sands of time. Then I had a nightmare where I was being chased by Sailor Moon going full Terminator. That nightmare reoriented my project where the gang-banger is the protagonist, his only real objective for the first arc is to survive as everyone he wronged when he was under the villain's control and the villain are all gunning for him. Also the French-American spy became a British Home Office agent operating off the books

My character went from a centaur who was trained to fight for his entire life to a 4’11 mute faun/dwarf boy who was still trained to fight, but he failed horribly. He was originally supposed to kill one of my characters after a misunderstanding, but now they are barely involved with each other’s death at all (and the other character was turned into a girl lol so she’s changed a LOT from her OG). He’s still a Druid though lol.
My other character, which I mentioned earlier, was supposed to be the Prince of a kingdom and then die to his friend due to a misunderstanding, but now she’s a Princess who was forced to pretend to be a boy to “appeal to the public” and she’s a prophet now. Her original story had her going on all these adventures outside the castle, but now her adventure are all about assassinations, plotting behind people’s backs (Julius Caesar style) and overthrowing her brother. Still a very tall human though lol (6’2 because tall women are cool).

Definitely relate to that sort of 180 change. Currently in the process of taking my (admittedly pretty trope-y) fire girl, who was just kind of a generic, friendly person, and making her more of a dangerously competitive antagonist. A much needed change.

My protagonist May was originally a Sonic OC, but she soon became her own separate thing. Fio also used to be pretty different, but I’ve since made her design into something that works and feels good.

I have quite a lot of OCs, however I want to bring up one of them in particular. Hibi. In this story, I have made characters of my favorite animals. Hibi is one of the main four, her being a jumping spider. (The other three being Lotl the Axolotl, Micah the French bull dog, and Candy the cardinal). They became a found family despite they being completely different animals. Hibi was originally really nice, caring, and friendly. But then I noticed that all four of them had the same personality. So I decided to give her more of a “Diva”/“unhinged” personality. She’s a bit cocoo but she does care…if you are someone she cares about.

The one I have that has changed the most is my D&D villain, the Dark Queen. She started out as a chaotic neutral fairy queen of darkness who mostly just wanted people to be respectful and was angry that her daughter was kidnapped and brainwashed by the human king after the Dark Queen rejected his marriage proposal. She had started a war, sure, but she wasn't really supposed to be killed or a villain, more like an anti villain.

Now she's a full on genocidal maniac and a chaotic evil archfey archdruid lich that wants all humans dead after the human king's father (who is now the evil on instead of him) massacred the fey kingdom. The Dark Queen's daughter wasn't kidnapped now, instead having run away and being disowned after her secret love affair with the human king was discovered. The two kingdoms had a huge war, and the Dark Queen had slaughtered 300, 000 humans in it before she was killed herself. Now she's been brought back through a ritual with her granddaughter and she seeks to finish what she started and take over the land with her dark forests

My Character, Olivia Jackson (also known as Olive or OJ Girl), has changed a lot. When I first created her, she had a multiple page SUPER EDGY backstory with a personality that fit that. Overtime, I've tried to make her less edgy and her goals more known. I don't have a decent design for her, but there are several drawings. The same thing happened with my other character (from a different story), Red. Who I also made less edgy.

One of my characters started as a cute winged English kid that served the Queen with severe workaholism and ended as a bitter narcisist German lad with self-esteem and brotherhood issues (he doesn't have wings anymore btw).
