My D1000 has been functioning as expected for a month now and I'm SO glad to have it. Kryptonite served me well for the last 30 years, but grinders finally made their flagship product, the NY Fagedaboudit almost useless.* So it's the D1000 now for me.

I also own an Altor SAF lock and have had it for three years. It, too, is VERY grinder resistant. However, at 13 pounds, very bulky, but with VERY limited internal space, it's a challenge to use. It's fine for the "locking up at the same spot everyday" scenario, but not for carrying.

The D1000 internal dimensions match the Kryptonites I've been using and suffice to catch the rear wheel between the stays, or through the head or seat tube with ease.

*Not totally. I have plans to "beef up" the four NY locks I own with supplemental steel pipe filled with concrete to thwart grinders. That way I can continue to utilize these quality locks and send thieves to greener pastures.

The only issue with the d1000 is it’s shackle size is not bigg enough

the new x3 is going to be the one to get, not much difference in strength but its longer and easier to attach for motorbikes, pre ordered it, hopefully comes in next couple of months

Just bought the Litelok x1 BSB version. Went for that over the hiplok due to more wider opening even if it does make it harder to mount to the bike. A lock that you cannot even secure it to something is just a heavy paperweight.

Looks good but what is really needed is a change in the laws that favor the victims and give zero recourse to the thief if they happen to get sent to the hospital after they were caught stealing

I own both these locks and use them on my motorcycle. D1000 although tougher is harder to use on my motorcycle due to its size.

Just received my LiteLok X1, 7 or 8 days after placing order. Looks and feels very substantial. Like the white reflective elements. Bought a pipe bender this morning, so I can build a dedicated rack for it.

Think the actual destruction testing of the X3 shows it as the best verses hiplock and has the advantage of keeping jobs in the UK rather than shipping them to China. Always a plus point. However the x1 is brilliant where budget is tight .

I also got the D1000. This is likely the best U-lock money can buy - so its fair to exspect a lot.
It feels a bit lower quality than a crypronite lock - Has more wiggle when closed.

I hope that the parts where the locking mechanism is, is also grinder-resistant! I saw noone tesing it sadly.

Some pick-resistance matters - as in no dumb, low-skill attacks should work. Since its a now product i am scared of design flaws.

3-5 minutes to open the X1 doesn't sound like much compared to the 20 of the D1000, but I really think that is not particularly relevant. No thief is going to use multiple grinder discs on your lock if other less secure bikes are around.

I had a kryptonite U lock and my e-bike got stolen within a week. Left it locked up outside for an hour and it was gone. Luckily I had a tracker in the bike and the police found it in the thief’s house. But I’m never buying a standard lock again. I’m fact I’ll probably get one of these Hiplocks and a second standard U-lock with a cable just to scare away thieves

Grinder resistant locks are a step forward, but a determined thief in a private location, may instead opt to cut the pole, fence or rack the bike is locked to rather than wasting time trying to cut through a very grinder resistant lock. Park out where everyone can see, try not to park long, and see if your workplace will let you store your bike inside. Sometimes they will vandalize what they can't steal.

I wish they made a version that is larger so I can use it with my electric scooter. Litelok seems to have more space on the inside to lock.

I’ve got the litelok and am satisfied with it even though it can be a TRILE to put on the rear tire and frame of my Grizzly Rider …. I’ve also got two alarms .. I am seriously considering the D1000 but it looks as though there’s even less room to put it on the front area of the bike …. I may end up purchasing a GOOD chain lock too … even though I’ll dread lugging around that extra weight

Worth the money, imho. Especially for ebikes or scooters which are both quite expensive

Ive bought a D1000 because I see it as buying insurance. This will deter any opportunistic bike thieve making them move to the next one. if you love your bike protect it.

i've been waiting for the Hiploc D1000. It's finally arriving on the market, but then all of a sudden there is the Lightloc X1. Now, the question is what lock should I choose??? Thanks to you providing this video, I'll go for the D1000.

A lock is only as strong as what it is locked to. Most bike racks and signposts can be cut in seconds.

It might be better to go for the x1 purely for price. After an attempted theft with a grinder, all will have to be replaced, but the d1000 and x3 will cost you significantly more every time someone tries.
