Arch Linux: installing Plymouth

CORRECTION: at 3:48 there is a typo, but it does not impact the visual. The important option is the "splash" option.

In this video we are going to install and configure Plymouth on Arch Linux. Plymouth offers you the ability to have a boot splash screen on your installation. This is going to provide you a graphical boot process until the Display Manager.

A few things have changed since this guide was made:
1. You don't need to enable a Plymouth service for your display manager
2. Following this guide may lead to a black screen upon boot unless you put what GPU driver that you're using in the modules.

do you mind updating this video and showing us how to use the BGRT option so it keeps the OEM BIOS logo just like fedora does?

Thanks for the tutorial. @2:20 For me I had an issue where the plymouth wouldn't load correctly. I only got 3 dots on the screen. I'm not sure if it's my laptop or not but inside modules I added "i915" This value is for Intel GPUs. Afterwards it loaded correctly.

I can't seem to get this to work. I'm using GDM as a display manager, and I have enabled the gdm-plymouth service. Upon boot, my UEFI logo shows, and not the 'spinfinity' theme that I set.
When I preview it using the method from the Arch Wiki, The splash screen briefly flashes, before going to the login screen and freezing (requiring a hard reboot). It might be an issue that I am using Nvidia, but Ubuntu's splash screen works without a problem.

I did this in a virtual box VM and I didn’t see the boot animation . When I boot from grub in few secs I see the login screen . It seems not working

still works to this day, however not sure if sddm supports smooth transition for a plasma desktop as there is no equivalent sddm-plymouth service as there is for lightdm

I did this but now my screen resolution is all messed up and my second monitor don't show up anyway. How can I undo everything and go back as before I installed Plymouth and did all the modifications?
