Pro tip: If you type your password wrong, it will take twice as long to boot.

i love how you included splits as if you were doing a speedrun

You can disable the bootloader menu (and only make it appear when you hold shift or sth) and enable silent boot and other corresponding options described on arch wiki, that should improve it a bit and it's not like you can read anything during such fast boot so idk why this isn't set by default

To skip grub change your timeout from 5 to 0 and set the grub style from menu to hidden and it will only appear when you hold shift. You can do that by editing /etc/default/grub and then doing grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg ( you have to do that with root)

if it was with another type of initsystem it would be even faster

I miss the times where you pressed the power button and went to grab a coffe

systemd is kinda slow as I have heard so far, you may want to try this out using Artix which uses some other inits like Runit/OpenRC

This is without encryption, correct? Personally I would never leave a mobile (or any other) device unencrypted.

Could you make your Linux distro an iso with calamares? I reallly like your arch customization. Also, what do you use to edit?

Never understood why those rapid boot times were essential. My laptop has an uptime of 15+ days on average (sometimes even longer) so I hate rebooting but I don't mind if it take around a minute to do so.

Awesome! I happen to own the same laptop model, but Manjaro and LUKS take their time. This makes me wonder: Did you put in extra effort to get it this fast, or is it just the way a slim Arch install behaves on this device?

Does anyone know how to disable the "Welcome to GRUB!" text when loading grub? (running arch on uefi). If it wasn't it (and ofc the bios logo screen) then I would've gotten a really fast boot too.

Do you have good battery life in the matebook? Did you modify the kernel? I'm thinking on buying one.

Here is where im at with Linux. I installed Fedora KDE and it was amazing once I got everything working. After a few weeks, and due to some graphical wierdness with Steam, I decided to update my Nvidia drivers to the latest. That broke the system, so I restored back and things were Ok however I noticed since then, my login time is absurdly long, like 20 seconds and thats after the boot time of close to 20 seconds. I just don't feel good about the situation I have spent hours restoring back further, and analyzing the boot sequence and i'm just sour about it. I may completely reinstall the Os but I just don't want to fight all the drivers again right now. I should have made a full system image when everything was working because for whatever reason, doing a full TimeShift back doesnt seem to fix whatever is going on, and I do think its related to the Nvidia drivers, which were working ok last week. I get all sorts of errors in the log, my network is taking 7 seconds, its 14 seconds to load user space then another 14 sec. to load the graphics. If there is a quick way I can fix this like reinstalling the x11 environment or something let me know.

Cool GRUB background!
BTW just out of curiosity, what would that wooden box under the Samsung monitor be? Is it audio stuff?

Why is this the first result for ’EFIstub’? This is GRUB no?
