I love how you can see Grey starting to respect Nolan more by admitting that the reason why he made Harper his TO was because no other rookie would be able to handle her.

The reason she wanted to be there is because while she was working undercover for 4 years, she left her daughter with her now ex-husband. She couldn’t keep doing her UC job so she became a Training Officer because of the 5% increase over being a regular Patrol Officer. But more importantly, she came back to see her daughter but her ex-husband won’t let her see her own daughter (because he used the fact that she was absent for her kid to get full custody). So they fought in court and she got half custody.

For people wondering she was loosing custody of her daughter so she actually ranked backwards to be less undercover and more with her kid

And she ends up being an honest, loyal person who happens to also be a damn good cop.

Nolan has a wonderful ability to break down people's walls and get the untrusting to trust him. It's all about being real with people. To a much lesser extent, I've done the same many times. When I meet new coworkers or bosses who seem like total harda$$es, I just talk to them and when they don't have much to say, I tell them about something my family members, my friends, or I did or experienced that most people would find interesting or funny. My current boss is a total task master to everybody but me because I wore her down and forged a connection with her. Now she says I'm like a son to her, but that might have something to with the time a tackled a mugger who came in with a gub and tried to make her empty the register.

That undercover plan is the dumbest thing. It literally facilitates drug trafficking and arrests only the end points aka the most vulnerable people in that system, while doing nothing to stop the actual source of the problem.
