Dangerous Wildlife: Man Attacked By A Rabid Beaver

While wading in the river I was attacked by a very angry and rabid beaver. He grabbed me in a beaver hug from behind in a sneak attack and started biting my lower back. I did not see him coming. I managed to grab it and fling it off as I fell forward into the thigh-deep water. I turned over onto my back and immediately had to start kicking the beaver in the face as he was laser-focused at getting to my face with his huge teeth. I was able to get to my feet and flee toward the shore with the stinking beaver in hot pursuit. The beaver weighed about 25 pounds, and he was all muscle and very determined to spread his rabies to me.

This video starts as I reach dry ground. He tested positive for rabies and I must undergo getting booster shots for my previous rabies vaccination starting tomorrow.

There is some cussing in this video. I cut most of it out...lol.

A little cussing in this video...and yes, it had rabies. I got the test results back today from the Health Department. I have to start a series of booster shots tomorrow.

Man, I've just found out rabies was confirmed! Scary stuff! We're all thankful you'd had rabies shots prior to this. I do hope this happened far away from a populated area!

Yeah you had to kill it to check it for rabies. It's out of character when it consistently chases you especially on dry land.

I've got a lot of experience working wildlife control in Alaska. We had beavers near an airfield and had to remove the dams due to standing water attracting the waterfowl. I'd never seen ANYTHING like this before. I was sure he had rabies based on how he acted. I've had beavers do everything in their power to scare me away, but not to this level. Hope the booster shots don't hurt too much. Sometimes nature just bites you in the ass... literally in this case.
