thanks for sharing the street I used to live in Junquera extension near Ramos when I was still on my teens. We all graduated from USC except one from St. Theresa College. We lived above Cebu Star Press, my uncle owned. Then we all moved to our new homes in Guadalupe during my late teens to early 20s. Lived in Cagayan de Oro for 5 yrs, worked with Commission On Audit & left for CA & studied nursing in CA but now retired. Left Philippines in 1986. It is nice to see the street again, I am just kinda emotional to see USC looking like boxed in. I never imagined how saturated the place is now. But I like your postings especially the ones in Camotes. I love to see nature more. Hope to see Pinas again after the Pandemic we plan to stay longer it might be our last time to see our native land.

Thanks for this look around. For me, this would be terribly sad that young women from otherwise good provincial families, had to resort like that, to survive. We have 1st hand information from a family member, of being approached in this area by a young student
trying to get money in this way. Our family member declined.
Not having been on Junquera St, i did not recognise the area until you got to the Colon Street, intersection, where i have been several times over recent years. I believe it is a 'snatcher ', area, having said that, i was not accosted in this way, anywhere in Cebu City,
though i have heard of other ' Cano's', being robbed on the streets. In my early days of visiting Cebu, my wife warned me about snatchers, to which i said, 'if anyone tries that with me, i will break their arm'. She said, ' you won't know', LOL.

wilfred Von Basir During my adolescent years and beyond I always admire the architectural stylings of Vision Theater and Oriente Theater. Everyday when passing through Colon street, I made it certain to take a glimps at these two impressive building structures. I don't care about the new high Rise buildings and Malls in cebu. They dont mean anything to me really. All I care about are my Vision and Oriente theather and my University of San Carlos.

I visited Cebu5 years ago but only for a short visit because I got mad when I was an inch of being hit by a taxi while walking along the street, why I was already at the very edge of the gutter when that stupid taxi whizzed by me. Thats why the following day I just left. I was gonna go to D Jacosalem st if Gala theater and Cebu Polytechnic School are still existing. I'm also wondering what is that new university that bought Cebu Coliseum. That Coliseum is memorable to me since that's the building where I saw the fight between the Great Flash Elorde and Teru Kosaka in the 60's. I also saw Matt Monro perform there.

I missed cebu's Tinong's, La Suerte Restaurant, and Elite Bakery owned by Mr. Mesa and Chocolate House at Colon st.

Wherever there are schools there will be shoe repair shops. I remember about 12 years ago, we came upon a surplus store owned by a Chinese man, that had a lot of cool used items. We purchased two framed local paintings--one of Magellans Cross and one of a local street scene.. Isn't Junquera a historical street too?

Call it a coincidence, but I like the idea of "flesh business" in Junquera Street: There was once live flesh business, dead flesh business as well, located on the same street. Dead flesh is more lasting business than the live one.
