Is Montreal's top line ELITE?

Juraj Slafkovsky should have way more than 60-65 points projection in the near future. Let's not forget Slafkovsky production this season was compromised when he was asked to fire back Kirby Dach for almost 25 games. Since joining back Suzuki and Caufield on the 1st line, Slafkovsky has average near 0.86 ppg. If we do the maths, on a 82 games stretch, Slaf would score 71 points at 20 yo and 210 hits. Those numbers put Juraj Slafkovsky in a sphere of his own, none other players are close to Slafkovsky numbers... NONE!

I’m a habs fan I say this from a home team view, there not elite, not yet, I would say nick Suzuki is an elite level hockey player, one thing I factor into being elite is not only being able to put up the numbers but being consistent, caufield is streaky he scores and doesn’t, he hasn’t proven to me yet that’s he is an ELITE scorer in the hockey league, when I think of elite scorers I’m looking at your 40 plus goal scorers and yes he is on pace to get it but he has not done it yet, so he’s not an elite scorer, Slaf is still growing playing great now but again it’s the same thing as last season he was terrible for the first 60 games and then he picks it up, I want to see more consistency from him, but as a line they do work there great but I need to see more consistency, that’s what an elite line provides is consistent ability to dominate games and put up numbers this line it’s not there yet, I think they will be, it’s clear if Slaf plays the way he has shown since the 4 nations break on a regular basis this line will be one of the best in national hockey league, but I can’t say there elite until I see it

They are good but not elite yet. They are 25, 24 and 20. In 2 years they will be up there.

Suzuki the most complete and polished of the 3. Hopefully Caufield grows into an elite 40 goal scorer and Slaf into a punishing power forward. For now, to be in the same conversations as some of the best lines in hockey should be viewed as a blessing.

Even if they are a "top line, " the Habs will not be able to compete at a high level until they have another "near top" line. A one line wonder team will never win a Cup.

The jets top line has combined for almost 100 goals and is top of the league. But obviously these guys understand it’s a fluke, or that goals don’t win games
