One tip: if you can read the brand of the ball, there's no spin on the serve.

Great tips as usual!
Some players when they can't handle a serve have the intention to go closer to the table.
And try to catch the serve earlier but are so close they don't have time to decide topspin, flip or push.
I normally advise them to take a half step back especially on heavy spin serves. Moving forward on a serve is easier then moving backwards.
Thanks for sharing Dan and Tom!

Another tip: Return long services a bit later, because the ball has less spin with time.
Great video 👍🏼

Hi Tom & Dan, Thanks for this very useful & helpful video lesson. Returning serve is one of the most difficult skills in TT. It will benefit to many lesser experience players to enjoy the sport. Thanks. 👍🏓

Great tip about aiming where the opponent’s racket started its swing. Nice additional way to think about counteracting the spin. Love this channel. Thanks!

Situation gets tricky people hide their elbow until they make contact with the ball. Like having body covering up your racket and elbow positions, they will toss the ball near their making the toss visible, making the contact visible with the racket (makes the service legal), it's becomes harder to judge the amount of spin on the ball.

Also I learned few points through this video, thanks a lot.

It's important to mention listening to the contact sound of the blade on ball in addition to visual cues. Soft contact is usually spinny and loud sound is usually fast and generally topspin.

Thank you so much for being meticulous to the details. Great communication connected me with the intricacies of this topic, which would otherwise been difficult to identify and express.
