What Really Happened To The Lost Colony Of Roanoke?

Tales of the Lost Colony of Roanoke have been part of the American imagination for centuries. When 115 English settlers arrived on Roanoke Island, just off what is now North Carolina’s coast, in 1587, they expected to have a new start in a new world. But things didn’t exactly go according to plan.
John White, the leader of the colony, returned to England not long after their arrival in order to get supplies. When he returned three years later, the entire settlement was gone — but where did they go? From starvation and cannibalism, to run-ins with a witch, or an end brought about by a Native American leader, these are the biggest Lost Colony of Roanoke theories out there.

Could the reason why they took their buildings down be because they needed the wood. For a boat or wagons for example. They tried to get back home or trade for food.

The colony disappeared due to them being tired of the three year delay of John White’s trip

I’m leaning toward the Windigo explanation.

If there was blonde haired blue eyed tribes there then that being said was probably due to Vikings showing up decades or centuries before

I really hate that you have to bring up stuff like witches/myths/cannibalism, all things that have no basis in facts for the Lost Colony. It was almost certainly a mix of integration with Native Americans and other assorted deaths that just happened as normal life in early settlements by Europeans like starvation or attacks by Native Americans.
