Open up your textbook! Designing, creating, and using open-source textbooks

Students are sometimes reluctant to purchase prescribed textbooks due to cost-of-living pressures. At the same time, online textbooks offered through the Library can come with access restrictions, and limit a student’s ability to print and download. This session includes a short presentation to introduce audiences to the concept of open textbooks and explain why they make sense for online learning. It will report on the findings of the Library’s Student Staff Partnership Project on textbook use by UQ students and showcase two academic experiences of authoring and using open textbooks in teaching and learning.
