This one central idea has enabled me to correctly predict the cost of living crisis and collapse in living standards since 2008 – as well as stock market rallies. Part 4 of Gary's Understand the Economy course.

I studied economics and biology, and work as an infectious disease modeller. During my economics degree nobody talked about dynamic systems. But in infectious diseases we don't do anything else. But if you apply even the simplest "interest with no taxation" in a dynamic model (ask ChatGPT) you know that Gary is 100% correct, all money ends up with a small group. Democrasies without propper taxation cannot do otherwise then converge to oligarchies. It is in our architecture.

This movement is gaining momentum. Thank you Gary for leading the way. A lot of people usually shy away from inequality conversations for fear of being shamed by so called "experts" when they really are just speaking from their biases and not from hard data

I have to hold my hands up and apologise. Used to think this guy was suspect and just another narcisist, but clearly his heart is in the right place and wants to inform and educate. Thanks Gary.

I went to Lanzarote as a singer in 2003. My wages were €150 a night and rent was €300-400 a month. I ended up buying a bar and a couple of properties. Then boom! 2008. Lost everything. A short sharp lesson in how a mortgage isn’t wealth.
I just had a short holiday to Lanzarote and I worked for 2 nights. So 2025, wages are €120 a night and rent is around €1400 a month.
Now that’s a sobering economics lesson. 😬

Studied economics, had a front row seat as a trader and investor ( 25 years running now ) witnessing the corruption with banker bailouts in 2008 and Covid bailouts in 2020 and the biggest wealth transfers in history. Gary is absolutely right in the content he presents, but your up against a very formidable force who will want to retain there wealth at all costs and I mean at all costs !. Great unity and sacrifices will be needed for this to change.

From someone working class and coming from extreme poverty, thank you for using your voice. We are suffering so badly for no reason.

You killed it on Piers Morgan Gary. These talking heads didn't stand a chance against you

If Gary gets into an 'accident', it was not an accident.

I have thought many of these things over the years, especially that it makes no sense that the sinking of money into assets would have any growth - but to see someone explain all of this within broader economic dogma, how money should actually be thought of, and how this all fits together is like a very bright light on in what was previously a room of darkness. Lead the charge Gary!!

I've always been of the belief that 'people who can', choosing to guide 'those who can't', are a shining light in our society. I'm one of 'those that can't', i'm not good at maths, my jobs have always been low paid and i struggle, so to look up to leaders that actually care, is a rare and wonderful thing. Thank you Gary.

Inequality weakens our economies because concentration also affects markets: fewer businesses, more oligopolies, less competition, less innovation, worse and more expensive products, etc. Business leaders must understand that inequality is neither efficient nor sustainable in a healthy economy. It is essential to regulate the structural tendency of orthodox capitalism towards asset concentration.

For about 8 years I have been telling people that house price rises to convince homeowners that they are getting richer is a fallacy and the economy was not suddenly about to recover.
To hear it explained far more clearly and with a lot more detail is a dream. Thanks Gary

I’m British but I live in the US and was beyond thrilled to see Gary on Piers Morgan. This is shifting people’s understanding about who is really causing all of their problems, and it’s not undocumented immigrants or trans kids. Finally, people are starting to understand that the rich are the real beneficiaries from this grotesquely unfair system. Thanks, Gary! You are doing incredibly important work.

I've never listened to anyone before who can actually explain the situation in such a clear and unbiased way. Keep it up Gary!

I also went to the LSE (back in about 49BC) and after reading your book, I had a shoofti at all my old textbooks and checked the indexes - not a F'ing word about inequality or even income or wealth distribution. Nowhere! Not once! Amazing - if you think about it!

I’m so glad someone is actually talking about this.
Inequality is nearly the caused to all peoples problems.
We are distracted by dividing us to blame people different for our problems.
When we should all stick together and equal the wealth.
