How to move layers with shortcut in Adobe After Effects

If you want to move layers up or down inside the “Timeline” window in After Effects, here are three ways of doing it.

First, click on the name of one of the layers and drag it manually up or down, or select a layer and click “cmd + left bracket” (or “ctrl + left bracket” on PC) to move the layer down and “cmd+ right bracket” (or ctrl + right bracket” on PC) to move the layer up, or my favourite method:

”Opt + cmd + arrow up” (or “ctrl + alt + arrow up” on PC) to move the layer up and “opt + cmd + arrow down” (or “ctrl + alt + arrow down” on PC) to move the layer down.

To easily change order of multiple layers, you can check the tutorial that I will link at the end of this video and if you want to see more quick tutorials just like this one, consider subscribing to the channel.

Thanks for watching and have a nice day!
