All the neglected kids these days are getting raised by social media, and the future is scary 😢

If it wasn't for YouTube, I would have never learnt about narcissism.

Just broke up with one of these. He spends hours on FB on sights that he can sit and argue with strangers about everything from Golf Swings to Alcohol Abuse. He comes home from his high paying executive job and sits on his couch now drinking beer, searching women, posting pictures and articles, and arguing with strangers on public sights. Did I ever dodge a bullet. Handsome, wealthy, gift buyer, but manipulative and evil. Thank you Dr.

On the bright side: all the time the narcissist spends on social media, he/she is not bothering his close real relations.

I've never felt as relieved as when I deleted my social media accounts. Particularly Facebook.

I feel social media is 100% the main reason for the downfall of society. People need to turn off the phone and start living and paying attention to the bigger problems that are coming down the pipe. "Including myself".

I was telling my friend how Facebook is a Narcissist’s Playground.

Social Media tricks a lot of people into that they have actually achieved things, I dated a girl who had no car, no place (stayed with parents), and a part time job, but she had 13.000 followers on Instagram an she considered it her full time job even though it gave her no income and all she would do is post videos of herself working out.

I deleted Facebook 6 months ago and I've never been happier

I’ve stepped away from a lot of social media. Not permanently, but I’ve stopped wasting so much time. If it’s not helping develop me as a person, or I’m not learning or even just enjoying myself it’s not worth my time.

I deleted my Facebook years ago and don’t miss it. I have a friend whose spouse posts photos of them portraying them as a loving couple but at home it’s a different story.

Social media is a dream for my narc. She can project her dream life. She cannot get enough of posting pictures of the new supply and their epic romance 🙄

When I first started using social media many years ago....I fell into this cycle of uploading quite often... I realized sometime later that I didnt like it... I didnt want ppl to know I was at and what I was doing every single day!!! I realized for me that this was weird and I stopped doing it ... I still go on social media to keep in touch with friends and family but I dont share as much as I used to....

Sometimes a person will ask me why I'm not on facebook nor Twitter, as if I'm being a stranger for not doing so. I think it's strange that more people don't recognize the inherent toxicity.

Social media is catnip to covert narcissistic types too though, with a lot of 'poor me, I'm sad' victim portrayals and a sad face in the photographs. Weaponised sadness. Almost as bad as toxic positivity... 😐

Do NOT post adorable pictures of your children on SM! There are bunches of predators online too....just know some VERY shady characters haunt these sites. If I was a parent today I would NOT let my kid even have a cell phone...no way

Social media is even being used for dating which is generally a bad idea. That’s where narcissists like to find people.

I'm a Baby Boomer and a guy--so I really, really don't get it. When I was in college in the 70s guys weren't into weightlifting, styling their hair and beards, or looking in mirrors and definitely wouldn't take pictures of THEMSELVES. That would have been considered conceded and "arrogant" and nobody wanted that stigma, UNLIKE TODAY where arrogance is admirable. I see guys on Instagram who are so attractive as to be computer-generated—but having taught in a university, I know that those same guys tend to be airheads. Why study when you can float to the top on your looks.

While walking, I saw a mother bring her child out, put a snowball in his hand, take a picture, and take him back in the house. That's where we are.

Social media also seems to be the stomping ground for the vulnerable narcissist. Constantly complaining and sharing their woes. It's pretty gross, and unfortunately many people get sucked into their games. Padding their egos, offering emotional and even financial assistance. It can get quite dangerous and become draining if you allow yourself to become entangled in that mess.
