Dell OptiPlex 7010 Upgraded for 2021 & it's FAST!

This was a great upgrade and refresh project for a stock Dell Optiplex 7010 desktop computer. They really don't make these Business Grade Dell's like this anymore in terms of build and material quality. Full metal case which acts as a heatsink for the motherboard and all interior components. I like how the motherboards BIOS is current year (2021) and up to date in terms of being able to utilize full UEFI as boot mode. 💪

I used my dads trick which is a little bit of WD40 on a rag in order to make the case shine like brand new. Has to be cleaned off tho prior to reinstalling the board and all interior components. Just a very small amount if you'd like to try it out on an old case. Will literally make it shine like brand new.

Parts changed/upgraded include the power supply (PSU), the Graphics Card (GPU), BIOS battery, 500GB Samsung Evo 860 SSD, interior case fans with addition front intake fan, SATA Cables, and fresh layer of Arctic Silver 5 Thermal compound for maximum cooling on this Quad-Core Intel i5 CPU. I upgrades the RAM to 16GB total at PC3 1600mhz which is the fastest RAM speed that this system can register and utilize. I also added an addition 4TB 7200RPM secondary Hard drive (HDD) for addition internal storage.

Turned out really well for a 9 year old Dell Desktop PC from 2012. Very fast and affective. I'm sure I could have go the boot time even quicker than 23.90 seconds if I played around with the settings in the BIOS a bit more and maybe adjusted the hardware check at boot to minimal rather than thorough. Great before and after PC upgrade project tho and the client I did this for was very happy with the result. 🙏

I just picked one of these up for my son. The company I bought it from upgraded it to 16gb ram and 1tb ssd I just need a graphics card and they sent it with a 22in gaming monitor I just really need that graphics card to get it up and running for him!!!!

I bought a 9010 MT and absolutely maxed the shit out of that thing, I used a 3770K and a 2060 Super (I am aware of the bottleneck but the thing looks extremely clean in there) and 32GB RAM

bro i did not have a dell optiplex but a similar old pc with i7 4770s cpu and rtx 2060 in a old case it is worth adding 1 80 mm fan for intake and 1 80 mm fan for exhaust my case only supports only 80 mm fans great video btw

I just got one and tossed a intel xenon and 1070 in it and it flies and plays everything on 1080p high settings very well

Did you do a lil spray paint to the front panel? I always love giving them a paint job of just black, so that boring grey goes away. Always love using the 4770s in those, pretty juicy.

Did you have to cut away any part of the front grill? Looking at mine from the inside has some spots that are raised, and I am concerned that could hit the fan blades so I have my fan at an angle.
Also is that a 92mm?

EVEN MY KENTSFIELD Q6600 FROM 2008 BOOTS AS FAST OR FASTER WITH A A DECENT SSD! THAT IS 2.4 GHZ CORE 2 65NM WITH DDR2 800MHS RAM! I HAVE AN OPTIPLEX 7060 THAT WANT BOOT AS FAST BECAUSE OF THE BIOS! RESTART SUPER FAST START WANTS TO RUN THE CHECKS IN BIOS EVEN THOUGH I CHOSE FAST BOOT IN BIOS!

I have the same tower and im trying to do a budget build for a friend to play Escape from Tarkov. Unfortunately their minimum specs are incorrectly listed. I need 6-8 gb of vram, ideally 32 gb of RAM and a 6 core CPU. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to go about finding out how to insure im ordering parts that will fit correctly. any tips? Is there like, a program I can use that allows me to cobble together a PC hypothetically and drag and drop components to achive the stats I need to then create a shopping list with known compatibility?
