$1000 for 10 dresses made from scratch sounds like a steal, and she only paid half of that

Years ago, I worked at a bakery and a few times brides would come in after a wedding and say their wedding cake had some kind of problem and wanted their money back. More times than not, it turned out they were trying to get their money back for the entire wedding; wedding dress, the hall, the food. Too many scumbags in this world.

I’m shocked the seamstress could cover the cost of the fabric for TEN dresses on that $500. Lady needs to increase her prices.

Rule number 1 with JJ. If you eat the steak, you PAY for the steak!

This screams I went WAY OVER my measly budget, and now I’m going to try and recoup money wherever I can. So sad and tacky. The seamstress made the dresses, provided 2-3 fittings and you only paid her 1/2 of the agreed price. Sidenote: Doing work out of your home DOES NOT make unprofessional. Most self employed/entrepreneurs started out of their home, trunks, etc to get their business up and running.

She ate the steak...but didn't like it but now wants to be compensated for the martini's, appetizers and the lobsters.

The dressmaker lost a lot of money on those dresses.

The plaintiff is either delusional or entitled, cause wtf is you suing for? You took the dress, they wore they dresses, and because you were dissatisfied you didn’t pay the other half. Wtf you suing for? I could see if you didn’t accept or have them wear the dresses but you used them. 🤦🏽‍♀️ wtf did I just watch? 👀

I wish that she had given the defendant the rest of her money. 😢

I used to run a bridal boutique and consignment shop in 2009 1. Even used dresses weren't that cheap and 2. My boss was a custom seamstress that made custom dresses, $50 is literally unheard of! Fabric is expensive and the hours of tedious work is a lot! Not to mention multiple fittings and alterations.. so much goes into a custom piece nevermind a whole bridal party with multiple different bodies. This dress maker severely under quoted herself!

Her complaints were kinda petty lol.

The fact that she paid $50.00 for ten dresses is beyond fair. I don't know many seamstresses that would charge ONLY $50.00 for a bridesmaid dress. I've seen some bridesmaid dresses that went between $150-$300 depending on the style, the fabrics and notions, as well as the labor (which is the key part of the charges). Sounds to me that the plaintiff was trying to pull a fast one here.

My experience is usually the bridesmaids pay for their own dresses. I paid $250 for mine not including what I later paid for alterations. She was being a cheapskate and got what she paid for.

Multiple fittings? Kind sounds like. A few bridesmaids gained a few pounds right before the wedding. That's why when they put it on there were rips and one was too small. If the fabric isn't stretchy even a pound or two can be an issue.
