I climbed to the top of this pyramid back in the mid 90's when it was still legal (Chichen Itza). Those steps are so much steeper than the video shows. One slip, and you are gonna be in serious trouble. I walked up but turned around at the top and holy shit...scary. Went back down on my butt one step at a time.

Way back in the 80s, I made a few trips there on vacation. I was able to climb to the top twice during that time. The second time, they opened the door at the base, and I was able to climb it from the inside. Once I got to the top on the inside, there was a Jade jaguar just below the peak. The inner climb was much more difficult and treacherous due to the condensation inside. I felt like I was inside a swamp cooler as the inside temperature was almost cold compared to the 90-degree temperature outside. Something I will always remember.

My buddy and I were there about 25 years ago on the day of the spring equinox just by chance. Thousands of people there. You were allowed to go up back then. Coming down is the hard part.
