It's just the way how Dream did the face reveal because it felt so goofy. The dark lighting behind him, the way he turns his face for the whole video, and how he holds the mask and then starts putting it down. It was all meme material!

I love how Dream fans wanted him to do a face reveal and were going out of their way to find out what Dream actually looked like, but as soon as Dream did a face reveal, they started calling him ugly, insulting him and wishing he never did a face reveal in the first place. Some fans can never be happy with their favourite content creator and this is a prime example

this is the perfect example of how people are just curious. everyone wants to know everything about people and when they finally get it, they lose interest. i kept hearing about dream ALL the damn time but suddenly after his face reveal, i havent heard of him since. once people get what they want its like a switch shuts off and theyre like "ok im good".

To credit Dream, it appears he had a massive weight loss journey before his face reveal. I can imagine he went from feeling incredibly insecure based on the expectations set for his appearance and finally felt ready to show his "new look" that he worked hard for.

You left out the fact that Dream hyped up his face reveal and had tons of influencers help him build the hype. He randomly FaceTimed several popular influencers while they were live or recording and they all had shocked faces when he face revealed. It gave people the impression that he had something unique about his appearance. His fans probably felt duped when they realized he was just an average guy and the reactions were over exaggerated. They probably felt annoyed that Dream focused on commoditizing his face instead of treating it like an opportunity to be closer with his fans.

Edit: guys it doesn’t matter if you personally think he’s handsome or ugly. The root of the issue is the fact that he got his friends to hype up his face reveal to the point of creating unrealistic expectations of how “shocking” his real face was. Are his fans wrong for insulting him over his appearance? Yes. Did he contribute to his fan’s unrealistic expectations by purposely overhyping himself? Also yes. Neither side is completely innocent.

My kid is a massive Dream fan. I was listening to the hype for his face revel for WEEKS before it happen. The following weeks were then listening to my child defend Dream and complain about how horrible the internet was being. These streamers seem to forget the internets default setting is "tear them apart" and how quickly public opinion can shift.

I feel like Dream got bullied so much for his face reveal because of the aura surrounding it. Dream's face was a huge mystery to everyone, regardless of whether you were a fan or a troll. I feel that because of this people built their expectations up to the point that most people thought that the epic mystery would either end in Dream being unfathomably beautiful or horrifically ugly. Then, when the mask came off and it was revealed that Dream was, after all, just an average guy, people just couldn't comprehend it.

Honestly, i feel bad for Dream because as soon he done the Face Reveal people were attacking him about how he looks i dont know what people expected he would look like. He literally looks like a normal dude.

Charlie did a face reveal and it worked. He hadn't branded his channel on anything other than his voice and it turned out he was an average-to-attractive looking guy. Nobody was let down because there weren't the same expectations or pressure that Dream had. It's why I hope Corpse never actually reveals his face, especially considering he seems like the type of guy who wouldn't like that attention.

The reason why people are disappointed isn't because of how he looks. It's mainly because when dream was only a voice, his viewers could imagine their ideal face for him. This "imaginary face" varies among people's mindsets. So when he revealed his face they were like "Oh that was nothing like how I imagined."
