Best Rum Cocktails volume 02 features classics including the Cuba Libre, Pina Colada, Hurricane, Planters Punch and Fireman's Sour.

What is RUM?
Rum is a distilled alcoholic drink made from sugarcane byproducts, such as molasses, or directly from sugarcane juice, by a process of fermentation and distillation. The distillate, a clear liquid, is then usually aged in oak barrels. – Wikipedia

Most of the world’s rum is produced in the Caribbean and Latin America but its production has spread throughout the world. Rums are produced in various styles.

LIGHT RUMS (also known as white or silver rums) have nearly no color and are lighter in flavour.

AGED RUMS are aged in wooden casks for some period of time which
gives the spirit its signature color and sweeter, richer flavor.

DARK RUMS are aged the longest of any of these types of rum. The extended time it spends in wooden casks gives it a dark color and deep, smoky-sweet flavor.

SPICED RUM is typically aged for the same length of time as black rum but spices and caramel colorings are added to give it a signature sweet spice taste.

CUBA LIBRE
The Cuba Libre is a simple, tasty cocktail steeped with history. The drink was created during the Spanish-American war and the words Cuba Libre translate to 'free Cuba'.

INGREDIENTS
- 60mL White Rum (2 oz)
- Half a lime squeezed
- 120mL Cola (4 oz)

METHOD
1. Squeeze half a lime into a high ball glass
2. Fill the glass with ice
3. Add 60mL of rum
4. Top with cola

PINA COLADA
The Pina Colada is the official cocktail of Puerto Rico and has been for over 35 years! It is also classified as an International Bartenders Association official cocktail and for good reason. Everyone loves a good pina colada especially in the summer months.

INGREDIENTS (***UPDATED***)
- 60mL Light Rum (2 oz)
- 45mL Cream of Coconut (1.5 oz)
- 45mL Fresh Pineapple Juice (1.5 oz)
- 15ml Lime Juice (0.5 oz)

METHOD
1. Combine all ingredients into your blender base
2. Add ¾ cup of crushed ice
3. Blend for 20-30 seconds
4. Pour into a hurricane glass
5. Garnish with a pineapple wedge

HURRICANE
The Hurricane was created in New Orleans back in the 1940s. Two large measures of both white and dark rum is shaken with citrus, passionfruit and grenadine to create a surprisingly smooth drink.

INGREDIENTS
- 60mL White Rum (2 oz)
- 60mL Dark Jamaican Rum (2 oz)
- 30mL Fresh Lime Juice (1 oz)
- 30mL Fresh Orange Juice (1 oz)
- 15mL Passionfruit Puree (½ oz)
- Barspoon of Grenadine

METHOD
1. Combine all the ingredients to your cocktail shaker
2. Shake with ice
3. Strain into a hurricane glass
4. Top with crushed ice
5. Garnish with a slice of orange and cherry

PLANTERS PUNCH
This version of the Planter's Punch is essentially a dark rum Daiquiri with the addition of aromatic bitters served over crushed ice. There are numerous versions of the Planters Punch cocktail but I prefer the simple yet strong recipe that David Embury features in his 1948 book, The Fine Art of Making Drinks.

INGREDIENTS
- 60mL Dark Jamaican Rum (2 oz)
- 30mL Fresh Lemon Juice (1 oz)
- 22.5mL Simple Syrup (¾ oz)
- 2-3 Dashes of Angostura Bitters

METHOD
1. Combine all the ingredients into a high ball glass
2. Fill with crushed ice and stir
3. Garnish with a pineapple wedge, sprig of mint and cherry

FIREMAN'S SOUR
The Fireman’s Sour was created in the early 1900s when grenadine was becoming popular in cocktails and mixed drinks. It was first mentioned in Hugo Ensslin’s Recipe’s for Mixed Drinks in 1917.

INGREDIENTS
- 60mL White Rum (2 oz)
- 30mL Fresh Lime Juice (1 oz)
- 15mL Grenadine (½ oz)
- ½ Egg White

METHOD
1. Combine all the ingredients into your cocktail shaker
2. Dry shake (without ice)
3. Wet shake (with ice)
4. Strain over fresh ice into an old fashioned glass
5. Garnish with a lime wedge

Here in Brazil we have a classic cocktail called "Bombeirinho" (Little Fireman). Which is Cachaça, lime and grenadine. It doesn't seem like they originated from the same place, but I thought it was interesting the name and ingredients being quite similar.

I would choose fireman’s and pinacolada ....it’s so nice that you’re giving a commentary of what you are saying as subtitles below all your video..it’s excellent for people from different parts of the world who can’t follow your pronunciation ....I will also suggest that you have a written recipe as a display at the side of your running video easy for people to make a note of the quantities of ingredients that you are talking...
