Modern Web Development is Bloated

The GDPR has forced web developers to take a closer look at their code and they discovered what? There was too much useless bloated code.

From the article:

"In other words, the modern web is bloated with unnecessary features. The GDPR may be flawed, and it may not be as effective as it could be, but at the very least, it’s getting many developers to clean up their code."

When the GDPR was first introduced, I had hosting customers asking me how they could just block Europeans rather than figure out compliance. HAHAHA!

ahh complexity... there are many ways to build complex code.
1. Overdesigning: too many abstractions, too many files, we see this a lot within the oop world, java, etc.
2. Toolinghell: too many different tools, each one with their own docs and mantras, in their personal fashion way.
3. Viralvictim: Using complex libraries or software when you don't even need it, but they sold it to you by using nerdy viral marketing sh*t.
4. Challenger: Using new shinny and harder languages because performance benefits when you don't even need them. (golang etc).

OOP makes coders overengineer stuff, even with yagni and dry principles, because engineers wanna feel good about themselves and proof to other engineers how much they know about something, "muh, otherwise they are going to think I'm a jr." So they put all the quintuple nested design patterns.

And even in JavaScript they do the same. JavaScript isn't OOP and they still love to make a shit tone of classes.

only web development? all modern software is bloated and trend will continue, because programmers and their families need to eat every day.

NO code is "descriptive enough" to not need comments. Comments are NOT evil - unless they're not in sync with the code.

All software systems in general are bloated.

"Might need" feature implementation reminds me of my uncle's hunting camp filled with gears, springs, old glass insulators, and other things he said that, "You never know when I might need it!" After a while it's called clutter. And when he dies, who in hell as the joy of getting rid of all that?

Slightly off topic but curious to know which code editor your prefer when it comes to Atom vs. Visual Studio Code? thank you!

The NoSQL stuff and use cases sound like fun personal projects, or super useful for large Ecommerce applications. But yeah, I totally see why you nixed the idea.

"Decent code has no comments"

Bullshit!!! Comments should not only describe what the code does, but also WHY! Code in itself can never describe WHY!
