You could see it has a '' Could have been '' if the world would have been the way Arthur wanted it to be. Saving him from transforming into the Joker.

Damn, such a heartfelt moment, shows you that all Arthur needed in his life was love and kindness, and that if he had that in the form of a meaningful relationship in his life, he wouldn’t have gone down the dark path he did in the rest of the movie

So sad, really. Arthur wanted a father figure so badly, that he fantasized about Murray being precisely that person he did not have in his life. This scene is deep, indeed. Great movie.

This scene brought tears to my eyes... His speech was when i really broke when i could see how all he wanted was to be accepted in society. He took pride in taking care of his mother. I dont know how many of you noticed when he said "I live with my mother" he forced a smile and gave a glance at the audience sitting there. You can clearly see he was hurt when the audience started laughing at that. I just wanted to give him the warmest hug. That's all he needed... Made me realise that's all it takes for us to be happy... LOVE...

I love the face Arthur makes when he says "I take good care of my mother." It shows a sense of pride and it's quite charming like this whole scene

The way Arthur stood and spoke was like a Child talking to his parents, It's a really sad moment when Arthur just wanted to be loved and accepted by society but they just ignored and easily forgot about him.

I saw myself in this movie. Arthur was just a normal guy with a sad background trying to get through life but bad things kept happening to him. You have no idea how much I can relate to that.

It hurts because as someone who has never really had friends and deals with maladaptive daydreaming, this was painful and hit me hard. This and the whenever he dances are the most heartbreaking scenes in the entire movie.

The realization alone makes you relate to the pain.

3:21 is just so sad, I couldn’t hold in the tears with Arthur hugging Murray in sync with the music..

When you watch this scene a second time, and you know the whole story, it becomes more meaningful, heartbreaking and deeply dramatic. Arthur imagined being at Murray Show. We see him acting like a child, talking about his "lovely" mother and being accepted and loved by Murray as father figure and that was clearly his abused child side talking. What makes it more dramatic is the fact that Arthur wasn't fully aware of that truth yet.
