Your comprehensive video(s) on the Civic hatchback a few years ago was the deciding factor for my biggest purchase so far in my life. I’m in my mid 20s and don’t have a lot of money but pulling the trigger on the hatch Honda Civic was the one of the best decisions of my life. The car has reliably gotten me back-and-forth to my new career. It has helped me through two separate moves (fun fact, you can fit a washer or a dryer in the hatchback). The trunk is large enough for me to car camp inside of which has been amazing for going to music festivals. Countless trips, I could go on.

The point i’m trying to make is that I had made a decision for myself to take a risk in purchasing a “affordable” (25K is a lot of money when you’re in your 20s) vehicle and with both Mark and Jack’s guidance I am absolutely ecstatic with my purchase. Thank you, gentlemen.

I have owned many cars, but eventually bought a 2002 Civic manual as a cheap commuter car. It was meant as a "disposable workhorse". I'm still driving it today. It still runs like a clock! I have grown to LOVE the Civic! If I had to, I'd buy another one any day. Forget luxo barges. The Civic will always get you there. ❤

A note, as an Accord touring owner with this hybrid, the downshift (regen level lol) paddle will normally reset when you accelerate again in normal drive/econ, but if you HOLD the paddle down for a moment, it'll lock it in place until you turn the car off and on again, just like in Sport mode, even without being in that mode. I discovered this recently, and I assume it's probably the same here.

I have a 2018 Honda Accord 2.0T that's been flawless, but this new Civic is very tempting because of the incredible MPG rating and reasonable price tag. Great video.

Great review. Instead of the usual specification dump, you guys take us through all of the updates to the chassis, damping etc. I was getting ready for a new Accord Hybrid and then it got uglier than a cold sore. This is awesome!! Will go shopping when the hatchback arrives.

I have a 2023 civic sport touring hatch with the 6 speed manual and I love it. I came from a 2.0T accord and while the 1.5T can't come close to matching the power, I've found in the last year I've owned the civic, that I've had much more fun around town. The Bose stereo sounds great and it's nice to see Honda put their hybrid system into an already great package. If the day comes I ever tire of the manual, I'll be looking at the hybrid for sure.

Honda engineers are amazing. The Civic VX was the mileage champ in the 90s but was a very basic utilitarian econobox with zero frills. I know as I had one and loved it at the time.
The Fit was the next evolution in useful gas sippers, but still very basic and utilitarian (had one of those too). Both the VX and Fit were renown for their reliablity also.
It is amazing that we can now have cars that close to 50 mpg (or better in the case of the Kia Niro and Hyundai Elantra HEVs) that also get out of their own way, have power everything, comfortable ride with low HVH, and wonderful safety features. Hybrids are a true win for the auto industry and the consumer!. I currently drive a Kia NIro HEV and it does the job very well.

I just bought a Sport Touring Hybrid for my everyday commuter car last weekend. I was sold on the test drive. Car has pretty good power and a lot of great options all for $32k. You cannot beat that price for what you get in this car.
