Math operations run from left to right, parentheses have a priority, so 8/2=4 and 2+2=4, final step is 4x4=16

In the way of PEMDAS the answer is 1
But left to right the answer would be 16

This does have two different answers. The division symbol is ambiguous, so it’s unclear whether the problem is a fraction with numerator 8 denominator 2(2+2) or the fraction 8 halves times (2+2). Assuming the first means you simplify the denominator to 2(4), and get 8. 8/8 gives 1. However, it is equally valid to assumes the problem is 8 halves, meaning you simplify to 4(2+2) and get 16.
The answer is ‘1 or 16’. Not definitively one or the other, but them both in a statement.
