I am an FAA Part 107 sUAS Certificate holder. While FUN is always the objective for me, I also believe in adherence to the rules set forth in order to fly safely and smartly.

Just for feed back, I agree with your interpretation of the remote ID regulations: Sub 250g (or 0.55lbs or less) drones flown recreationally don't require registration or RID while any drone less than 55lbs flown under Part 107 must be registered and have RID. Unregistered recreational drones still need to follow general safety guidelines of the sponsoring recreational organization that the particular recreational flyer has identified as their source of safety guidance.

Thanks for sharing your information with us. What’s interesting to me, is that DJI and Autel’s sub250g drones have built-in RID with no option to disable it in the app, so it broadcasts a signal whether one likes it or not. If the 250g weight limit falls under an “exemption” in the rules for recreational use (unless your flying under Part 107) then all of these drone companies MUST add an option for users to disable the RID function, this way recreational and professional pilots can easily choose to turn it On or Off depending on their flight operation scenario. If one wants to leave it on that’s fine but there needs to be some flexibility here.

Great information! Thank you so much for showing this!

Good video. Very helpful. Where would you mount it on your Anafi with limited, mostly curved surfaces?

FYI that 250 gram limit is “take off weight.” Anything added to the drone putting it over the weight limit, will then require drone registration. I think this was discussed in one of the Alien Drones FAA videos.

I wonder if potensic can do a firmware update to enable remote id. I would hate to not use it under part 107

One thing I was told was the FAA would be looking for an order paper/receipt that it was ordered and on back order.

VERY INFORMATIVE and well done video -- THANKS!
Question please: Is that a good location on the Potensic Atom, where it will not block any GPS reception? I know it may be a silly question, but I do not know where the GPS is located. Hopefully that is a good location for perfect balance, too (so front motors aren't effected much different than rear motors). I have just ordered the ATOM 3-Axis for occational 107 real estate use, so .... I know I need the remote ID (Grrrr not too happy about that - Oh well). Thanks again - Subscribed!

ONE more question, please. WHERE does the Atom App -- Potensic Pro -- get its Map? Talking about the one showing on the display -- it displays from some source other than Potensic I'm sure. I'm asking for VERY important reasons, but no one seems to know.
That is, does the map displayed in the Potensic Pro App pair with Google Maps, or ... have its own data source, like a car dashboard GPS map???? In fairness, I have asked others and no one seems to know. The IMPORTANT reasons such curiosity are (1) Can you PRELOAD the map area the day before a planned flight (as my old DJI drone Litchi app allows, two different ways), and (2) must you be connected to data services when you are flying, or ONLY need to have your GPS turned on in your phone or tablet to see the map area? Thanks again!

you can go to default flight visibility and put that on private so others cant see you

So I have the mini 4 pro and was flying over a NC lake and dam, using the extended battery. I was in the middle of nowhere and a sheriff pulled up about 3 minutes after I landed and packed up. Nothing he could do, BUT, is there a way to avoid this exact type of attention? Or can I only avoid the Karens....
