Thanks Kevin.
I have a theme, so now to expand and adapt it to the musical we’re developing about slave guides at Mammoth Cave.

as a bari in a musical right now I just want to thank you for writing an actual bass part 😭 I compared my vocal range to a chart and can sing bass through most of alto but a lot of bass parts in musicals are so high they're difficult for me (in the one I'm in rn there are many parts where we're in unison in the same octave as the sopranos and altos and even at least one part where are part is higher than the soprano part)

This is so amazing man, your channel is so perfect for all of my musical curiosities. I love the way you actually include your technical influence and expertise for your composing and musical analysis

Interesting, playing on the "Emanuel" theme - I wouldn't have expected something like that to work for Dickens, but the sample thus far suggests it does! Didn't one of the film versions of CC use "Roger de Coverley" also? Makes sense, and I like how you're adapting it. Keep up the good work!

Speaking of adapting, back in December 2014 Houston Grand Opera presented the world premiere of Bell and Callow's one-man opera, A CHRISTMAS CAROL. Terrible, to put it mildly, and it was voted by patrons (including myself) never to be heard again on the HGO stage (we've also premiered Ricky Ian Gordon's HOUSE WITHOUT A CHRISTMAS TREE and Jake Heggie's IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, although the best thus far was Javier Martinez' EL MILAGRO DEL RECUERDO).

That section in the first piece from bar 52 is so fucking good - been in my head all day!

Also that safety in the second piece is Der Leiermann!

What kind of upright pianos would you recommend for more of a 50s rock sound
