This opening is so iconic, especially with the arc it's paired with. When you get that right, with the writing, the action sequences, the suspense, the plot twists, you really do have something memorable on your hands in the best way possible. WatchMojo really takes the words right out of my mouth, "It's difficult to quantify what makes this opening so great...but we're gonna try. The visuals begin with images of Naruto, his teammates, and their teacher. We are also treated to action beats and foreshadowed plot points. The song meanwhile has a tone and lyrics indicative of angry youth, the desire to kick things up a notch and prove one's self. This fits perfectly as a theme for the arc, which was all about the young ninjas demonstrating their skills, and also this is when Naruto really took off." It's very hard for me to narrow down the number one best theme (for reference, they have this one as their number one), and I have it down to my top 5. But if I had to pick one that really encapsulates what Naruto should be about at its best and in essence, it would have to be this one.

Man, can't believe I'm 20 now, this really takes me back to simple times, such a raw opening, love Asian kung-fu generation.

Tho I must admit I wish they gave the side characters as good screen time as they did these times like gate Lee vs Garaa and so on, something shippuden lacked but ah well, Boku no hero do it well.

Naruto’s first series was absolute gold. The whole world was perfectly build up, power levels were well stablished, ninja strategies where often used in fights and even tools played a role from time to time. Shippuden also used some of those concepts to an extent until after the pain arc, everything after that gave the series a 180 turn that we’ll never come back from.
