I bought a 2002 Toyota Solara V6 a few years ago. Just got it to 300k miles and it still runs really strong. Your Solara with only 86k would last beyond your kids finishing college tbh

Toyota originally planned the SOLARA to be a Lexus ES Coupe/Convertible.
But they feared it'll rob sales from SC. So they sold it as Toyota.
This car is every bit LEXUS. It's got Lexus ECU, NVH and quietness, smoothness, fit/finish and performance. GOOD CHOICE Mike!

you made the right decision. I owned 4 BMW vehicles and they keep breaking down very often. A water pump in a 335i would cost $1, 000. A oil pan gasket would cost $2, 000. In short, BMW is just a money pit.

Wise choice. I have a 2005 Solara convertible. Love it. I'll never sell it.

Very good choice! One of Toyota's best designed vehicles period! My aunt had one for years before and it served her well!

Bought an 05 Solara 4 cyl SE coupe a month ago and it's great. Super smooth ride, upholstery in excellent shape, looks fine, everything works as it should, great acceleration, 5 star crash ratings, great online reviews. Has some small cracks on the dash but other than that it's a really nice car I plan on keeping for years to come. Decided to buy it after having watched one of the earlier videos Scotty made on the Solara line.

Wise choice! I have a 2005 with the 3.3 in it, 327000 miles, never done anything but maintenance on it. I’m about due for a new timing belt on mine again, don’t neglect that!

Got 2 Camrys. 2009 XLE with V6 3.5 L beast. Bought it used, 18 months old, have put 167000 miles on it. I have a 2007 Camry Hybrid with all the option an XLE has, bought it for $2600 used with 210000iles. Needed a new hybrid battery. Got a new cell replacement for $2400 and it drives like a dream.

Just bought a 08 convertible Solara with a V6. 125k miles (timing belt dome at 100k👍) all dealer serviced and old couple owned. Also a fan of Scotty and though I had prior experiences through work with Toyotas I never ended up getting one till now. Man I wish I had sooner. I’m waiting on a classic car to be finished restomodded and wanted something to daily drive other than my 18 Ram 1500 (I hate dodge, I have stories). This fell into my lap as the owners just stopped driving it and just wanted it out the way. Wife’s coworkers with the wife.

I’m having so much fun with it. I added a Sony XAV 6000 head unit and a backup camera, was able to keep all the steering wheel button functions. Going to eventually change out the speakers and maybe do some suspension upgrades and any other non major mods I can add to it. This car was in such good shape I’m planning on keeping it as long as I can drive, which will piss off my kids to no end, but they have other vehicles lined up to get.

It was in ready to go shape as it needed zero maintenance when I got it, but I’m religious with standard maintenance. Outside an early 2000s Mitsubishi Mirage (never should of let that one go) I’ve had bad luck with Mopars, mostly Chrysler. Dad vans, sedans and crossovers. Stuff just breaks all the time even when well cared for. So outside the classic 69 Mustang Fastback in the works and my low mileage truck this will probably be it for me and I couldn’t be happier.

Great car! I would definitely recommend that you do the timing belt service asap if you don’t have any records of it having been done before or within the last 10 years! But other than that I agree this was a solid choice indeed!

Bought my daughter an 01 from the original owner. Had it three years, only did maintenance items on it, struts, brakes, battery etc. Runs great. Has 163 k miles on it. Great choice!!

Congrats. I have the same car but a 4 cylinder 4 speed. It's wonderful. If I had to complain about something it would be the car being a little too long. The front specially is quite long. I'm sure Toyota could have snipped off 6 inches. Other than that I think it's great.

I have 130K miles. So far I've only change front struts, front rotors, front pads 2X, rear pads 1X, I went thru 4 sets of tires, spark plugs and valve cover gasket.

I have had many Toyotas and a Lexus and I will tell you, my Solara has been THE absolute most reliable car I've ever owned.
I will never get rid of it.
In fact I would like to get another. This time a V6 with leather and sunroof. My current Solara is a base mode.

I don’t think I’ve seen this solara before!! This one looks pretty nice and not ugly like the previous gen

Extremely wise move buddy, the kids of your sons will drive it after one million miles just after changing oil, brakes and tires.

I have an ‘08 convertible with 125k and it’s a wonderful car, your coupe is definitely good choice.

5k for 86k mile's 04 Solara is probabaly not a deal that people can find anywhere in America nowadays. Good deal for you! I bought my 02 Camry Le (77k miles) back in 2012 for 5k, and I do all the maintenance except tire balance. It is now 172k miles now.

Toyota always got your back.
I have a 98 corolla and changed the starter and shocks this year cause they were the originals LOL. Itll die from rust, but mechanical A.1.

Good choice my man.
