Day In A Life Of A Doctor | GP Trainee in London

In this ‘day in a life’ vlog I take you through two days as a general practice (GP) trainee doctor in London. I go through many aspects of GP training, including the portfolio, tutorials, timetable, and training during COVID. My trainer shares some wise words of advice for GP trainees including how to get the best out of your training years.

I also share some snippets of life outside work. I find joy through cycling, cooking, meditation, reading, plants, and enjoying the views of London.

This video is especially valuable for anyone thinking about applying to GP training in the UK but it is really for anyone curious what a junior doctor’s day-to-day life in London is like! 👩🏻‍⚕️

Hi Katherine. Thanks for putting up this video, this is so informative and helpful. As a fellow gp trainee in Ireland I feel like I am watching myself through this video. I like the fact that you briefly addressed the common stereotypes about GPs. Most people think that GPs don't do anything just sending patients to A&E which is absolutely wrong. We are very busy dealing with issues that never make to the hospital. I am currently doing my first Gp rotation and I must say I struggled the first few weeks I started cos some of the cases I had I wasn't used to dealing with them in the hospital and so I wasn't sure how to manage them. Thankfully I had a good trainer who supported me all through and like you i find myself always studying, listening to podcasts or webinar even when I should be resting 😊 . Gp is very busy but so rewarding and I am so happy that I chose it.
