19:58 I think that what makes college romances hit so hard is because this is specifically the time and place that we are actually expected to try to figure out our lives and try to figure out love at the same time, make mistakes, be stupid and grow! Of course, people in their 30s or 40s can still be trying to figure these things out, but inevitably when reading a romance about "older" characters there is a certain expectation that they are not completely clueless about life, otherwise it does get annoying (coff coff Lucy Score I'm thinking about you...) So yeah, i totally get what you are saying and do agree that reading about college students finding love just hits different!!

i dont get the hate that cartoon covers get because i personally like the artist who does the icebreaker series. people have been complaining about real people on covers for years and now its illustrated covers??? personally I prefer a more discreet cover so I'm not reading a book with a shirtless dude on the cover in the metro

i had wildfire on my tbr but thought i needed to read icebreaker before and really didn't vibe with those characters, so i took off all hannah grace from my radar. you've made me change my mind!!

I think you nailed it when discussing the tonal issues with haunted ever after. It was trying to be a lot but ended up coming across as bland.

I have this one requested on Libby already. I enjoyed Icebreaker (3 stars) and Wildfore (4 stars) and Henry has been a cute character in both books so I’m excited for him to have his own HEA

I agree that while Icebreaker is a little overrated, it's still worth reading (even if you skim some parts) to set up the other books which are really good! My favorite thing about Icebreaker was the chemistry of the friend group.

I said this in my review for Icebreaker and i'll reiterate it now: people project their hatred for smutty books/romance readers/cartoon covers onto Icebreaker even though it absolutely doesnt deserve all that ire. It was just fine, and not nearly as horrendous as other books that don't even get a fraction of its hate 😭 This is coming from someone who gave it 2 to 3 stars! That being said, you've sold Daydream to me, for sure will be picking it up !!

If you're looking for another book with a native main character, I really loved Sex, Lies and Sensibility by Nikki Payne! It's a Sense and Sensibility retelling and has tons of pining and simmering desire. I recommend it

The thing about icebreaker is that the first 100 pages were just so messy the heroine was so annoying but the rest of the book is just so good that it makes it a worthwhile read

icebreaker is not my favorite book i've read this year. i think i originally rated it 3 stars and then bumped it down to 2 stars because i sat with it a little longer, but i definitely think that book draws WAY more ire than necessary. hannah grace writes such fun, relatable characters and icebreaker was a quick, easy read, even if there were parts of it that didn't work for me. i think people really just look for excuses to be assholes and then expect others to fall in line with their opinions 😭 but honestly i was already considering giving wildfire a chance and you've convinced me, as you so often do LMAO

The B&N in Reno, NV did the same thing with Daydream. Wasn’t mad about it though.

I liked Icebreaker, we dont have to all love the same thing but I don’t get all the hate for it. Looking forward to Daydream!
