I wasn't happy with the first part of his answer when he said it's time to leave when the love "no longer serves you." If this is the case, a lot of marriages and other types of relationships should just end. I can think of so many examples of a love no longer serving like say, your husband falls extremely ill and he no longer has the physical capacity to take care of himself. You're his sole caretaker and he needs you 24/7 for every single thing. By Jay's initial answer, the love no longer serves the wife. So should she leave the relationship? No. That's incredibly selfish. But I'm glad Jay elaborated his answer because I do agree that if love is making you fall out of love for yourself in order to love someone else, it's time to let go. That should have been his first and only answer.

Romantic love is the cheapest kind of love there is. It is the lowest form of love because it can be bought. If you are falling out of romantic love that means somebody, somewhere cannot afford to love you the way you want to be loved; key word, afford. Also, don’t be surprised if you can’t afford to love you, the way you want to be loved romantically. You’re growth does not depend on the amount of love you receive as an adult. Your growth as an adult depends on support. support and romantic love are not the same thing you can support someone and not be romantically in love with them your parents do this for you once you leave the house.
