i finally managed to finish an animatic for once
i drew this while i was hella sleep deprived so im sorry if the dialogue and some drawings suck ass but anyways
(i don't have any names for them yet so i just refer to them as the instruments they use in their band)
before i start to explain heres a confusing summary of their relationships;
- drums (boy w the freckles) likes guitar (mullet haired girl)
- guitar (mullet haired girl) and bass (black haired boy) are siblings
- keyboard (wavy haired girl) and guitar are dating
- keyboard and drums are childhood best friends
ok? got that ? yeah its confusing.
little explanation for what's happening in the video;
basically, drums has liked guitar for a while now, and he was the one to introduce guitar to keyboard. the first couple of darker blue scenes was just a flashback to one of the times drums realized that he really liked guitar, and it cuts back to when he's on a call with bass. drums spaced out for a bit (bc he was thinking about that one time) so yeha blah blah.
the first purple/pink scenes, they're all at their club/band room, sharing some drinks—while guitar and keyboard dances across the room. during the lines; "—but how could i hate her? she's such an angel, but then again kinda wish she were dead—" drums leaves the band room because he starts to feel sick, feeling shitty because he realized that he wished his childhood best friend was dead.
in the last few scenes, bass basically confesses, asking if it could be him instead of his sister. this leads drums to be conflicted, remembering all the times that bass was there for him (thats what the dark purple scenes are supposed to be but i got lazy).
bass sees drums' reaction, and feels like he made a mistake and starts to leave. keep in mind; drums has had a few drinks before this talk happened, so his decision to go up and kiss bass could either be a sober or drunk decision—i wanted to show that with the beer can falling to the ground and rolling towards the screen. (i wanted it to be up to the viewer's interpretation :D)
but uhm yeah,,, idk what else to say uhm,,
