Thank you very much. There are no many rigging tutorials I appreciate your work

I think the reason you're getting that error at 7:50 is because you have a dependency loop caused by 2 bones constraining each other. If you add constraints from the parent bone instead, you shouldn't have any issue.

Thank you so much! Yes this is simple but it is very effective! You create many things with this

I Know it's a older explanation but it still applies to anything that has a max range of movement.
So to stop the rig from passing through each other you can add the "Limit Distance" bone constraint one bone limits "outside" the other "inside".

Day 9 of trying to do this. Nothing works in blender as I intend
I have tried to follow this tutorial, and this guy does an excellent job, but every single thing I have tried to Accomplish does not work at all as how I want it to.
If someone out there would help me by getting in my discord, that would be great, if not I don't care, I will not stop, I am Persistent

This bug is really bad on mine??? In both Pose mode and Object mode, both of the internal bones point straight up which makes it confusing to select and edit... If I tab to edit mode it fixes it.. but only whilst in Edit mode... If I tab to pose/object view, I still have the bug. Fortunately I managed to get this rig to work as buggy as it looks.

Also, I noticed when I posed it to move it around, it followed the constraints but when I let go, it looked as if it was pulling the inner tube out part of the side of the bigger (external) tube... Very strange. But the video itself was GREAT! informative and easy to follow... Just a shame about how buggy my one is hahaha!! Thanks for the video!!

When trying to add an Armature, I don't get any options to add bones showing up, just the initial "Add Armature"?

I checked one last time before posting this... Turns out on the right hand side, you can click on the "Armature" drop down and inside of that you will find the "Bone", in Edit mode and Wireframe View mode, if you then click on this you will see the small bone light up Orange. Hopefully this will help any other noobs (like myself) that encounter the same issue :)

Good luck with your learning and any future builds :D

By mho, using TrackTo constraint for this purpose is terrible idea. Better way is using classic 3-bones armature (IK) with rotation-locks on bone-level + stretching on rod-bone. TrackTo may (and probably will) give weird results with animations (some frames are good, some aren't).

Tracking - Damped Tracking - Seems to work.

When I use tracking constraint, the bone rotates for some reason.

Any chance we could get a tutorial for this for 3.2? I'm admittedly pretty new to blender, but it seems to me like some of the ways parenting works has changed since the production of this vid.

Wow this should be a Track to Constraint function.

great video except somethings would have messed me up if I was new to blender:
1:25 (you need to be in edit mode to grab the verts) It's hard to hear but he says you need to be in XRay by using Alt Z (you need to be in xray to grab the verts that are out of view.)
1:30 Snap during transform (increment) need to be selected.
1:55 it's shift d r z 90.... not shift d r "x" 90

Having a bit of trouble with the "track to" modifier, the bones start looking up when the modifier is aplied

I have an issue where the top of the piston is delayed while it tracks to the bottom, so as it moves, the bottom is lined up nice, but the top will be behind by just a little
