I think this is why starting on tiny projects is important. It builds that confidence you can make something.

It's definitely important to make alot of projects that are just made for peer review, to build that confidence so you can learn from it.
I spent years studying this...
It's important IMO to push through your limits, overscope, and fail. So in turn you learn how to balance your development skill with your projects.

Those that go beyond their comfort zone will prosper.
Just keep cooking folks, never give up.

This is very true and a lesson I learned really fast with my first passion project. I fell into nearly every pit imaginable (over scoping, yada yada) and then put it on ice until I felt ready to reattempt it. After many years, I finally have games on my itchio due to changing my mindset to finish smaller projects and work up from there to eventually be ready to reattempt my first project.

Super important! This is why game jams also are so important, because they help us going through all production phases and getting psychologically acquainted with it. The ebbs and flows of creation are more tolerable when you first know it from small scale projects.

Btw love love your channel and we need more women visible, speaking and successful in this industry <3 Your channel has been a huge motivator for me when I was shifting from fine arts to the video games. Thank you for all!

Graphics for me is the most daunting, time consuming part.

The same can be said the other way around, overconfidence can screw your project too. The higher you idealize yourself the higher you fall. A healthy balance of confidence and realism is always best.

This is true and it has a name in psychology called: the self-fullfilling prophecy.

You believe it hard enough that you materialize it. This works both ways.
