Biggest issue with PulseAudio is its large latency. If you connect an external MIDI keyboard with a software synthesizer like Timidity, the keyboard is hardly playable because of the high delay between keypress and sound emission. For small latency you must currently use JACK, but JACK directly connects to the sound hardware and this excludes a browser from audio output.

For those that use Simple Screen Recorder, Pipewire is Not supported, the option is Not available for audio.... The Garuda distro installs Pipewire by default so therefore SSS will not work when using it unless you go through their automated option selections uninstall P. And rework it to Just a heads up.... Found out the hard way when trying things out.

Geez I'm on pipewire 0.3.53-2 and wireplumber 0.4.10-1 on Fedora. I cheated a little and pull those from updates-testing

On linix mint time to time audio volume changes abruptly or gets completely rubbish, have to manually kill pulseaudio very often which sucks.

Can you please make a similar video for Debian 10, systemd-free linux (such as MX-19); where you build it from source. As there are no instructions on how to get the latest pipewire on older debian 😞

None of the terminal commands work because none of these directories exist, even though I've installed pipewire, pipewire-alsa, and pipewire-jack. What gives? I'm on Debian 12.

Im really considering using pipewire, i installed SSR but i can change to other software, but what are the issues people are finding with pipewire adoption? What software still doesnt support it?

i thinks jack audio pro server is better right now:)

pipewire is long way to go

we do not want force to use sound server anymore like pulse audio case long time ago :)

in my opnion jack audio server (with kx studio repo = qjackctl, carla etc) is the best audio for gnu linux os :)

You really should consider increasing the type size in your terminal, because it's damn near impossible to read what you're showing in the terminal.
