As someone who has played GD for 8 years (with no levels on my account), this gave me a new fun approach to creating. I have strayed away from the editor post 2.2 since it's so overwhelming and there are so many things to learn and it's honestly scary. I have made some cool things in the past but I get demotivated so quickly. I've never created a full level that I have been 100% proud of and I can use some of your ideas to get out of my head and start building things even if I don't have direction. Thanks!

Its so incredible your ability to just think of a video idea, execute it and edit really fast and still make a great and relatable video. Great fucking job ausk

I actually really like the slow-paced editing!

"don't compare yourself to others"
Me dumbfounded how this man cooked up a great looking level without trying

Man, this is a video that I really needed. I often find myself comparing myself to others, and focusing on what others think too much. Now I know to try and avoid that mindset as much as possible. Awesome video once again Ausk!

I think the reason i stopped creating for the last year is that every time i made a level for fun, there was always someone to say "this is trash, you're trash, you should stop creating"...

For me personally, when i start feeling demotivated, i just take a 1-2 week long break from creating, so that your creative mind can refresh and spark new ideas that you'll be able to plan in advance, and when you finally get back to the editor, you already have an idea to work on

Wanting to do something while also not wanting to at the same time is the worst feeling ever, because I swear I keep opening the editor, expecting to finally get some real work done on a level, then I just place down a few blocks and orbs, then I immediately close the editor.
I haven't even worked on a real full effort level since my last one, which was around half a year ago now, and I'm not even proud of that level anymore.
I've made like 1 or 2 levels since then, but they barely count, they were pretty much just made because I wanted to use the new 2.2 features.

For the past couple of months, I have had some great ideas for levels but when I tried to execute them, I made like 15-30 seconds of gameplay and then just didn't feel like finishing it. Maybe after watching this, I will stay motivated and finally finish a layout. Great video!

I started a level after watching this and somehow got lucky with ideas. Almost done with 20s out of the 80s section of song.

I don’t mind the slow-paced editing, and this helped me a lot.
I haven’t really been creating, because of demotivation. I’ve recently just trying to grind orbs by clicking on random levels in the “Awarded” tab.
But, this has helped me a lot.
It helped me think of an idea for my level, and made me realize it’s ok to take *inspiration* from other creators.
Thank you, and love your vids as always! ❤

My favorite thing to do when demotivated is the “coloring pages” levels. It’s usually just a handful of basic level elements—, blocks, columns, the occasional Clubstep Devil face, framed out and then copy/pasted a bunch of times. People repost the levels with their own decorations and styles, but it’s only a few blocks so there’s no pressure.

The ones I’ve done that have timing triggers (move, color, the occasional shader effect) are almost never perfect. It’s just a proof of concept blank space area for you to dump ideas onto and practice with the editor. You also get to see other people’s ideas and riff off of them.

It’s funny, because I never see the GD YouTubers talking about it, but there’s always a few in the first couple pages of recent: unverified/easy.
