After the video I raised my hands up in the air and said, "Guess what! Now I get to clean the kitchen!" And my four year old gasped and said "Can I help?!" 😄

I've been up since 2:30 a.m., I couldn't muster up the energy to get up and dance. I'm 73 and the sole caretaker of physically handicapped hubby that also has dementia. After doing yardwork, cleaning house, getting groceries, I'm exhausted, but I don't have dirty dishes in my sink, my house is decluttered and organized, and my laundry is done! So I'm pretty proud of myself. Go me!

Now I understand why it is easier to help someone else clean, because we know they deserve a clean house.

I wasn’t sold until the “I deserve a clean home” bit. Then I said it out loud and now I’m tidying 🥳 Thanks, Cas!

I remember watching an interview with Jaime Lee Curtis where she talked about changing her story when taking with her kids. Instead of saying I have to go to work, she would tell them I get to go to work. I'm privileged to have a job to help support my family and that allows us to have fun together and pay bills. I have since always done that with my kids when their father was in busy season at work and couldn't spend as much time with them.

I’ve heard a similar brain trick where you get up in the morning, stand with your hands on your hips, shoulders back, head held high and smile for like 30 seconds or a minute or something and it tricks your brain into feeling happy and powerful for the new day!

Speaking as someone with a disability that puts extreme limits on my physical capacity to clean I find tackling a single small surface at a time is incredibly effective. It isn't a huge time or energy commitment. You can tell yourself that you don't need to do anything beyond your bedside table or your washroom counter. But having the visual reminder of the small achievement builds momentum and motivation for the next surface, the next task. So even if you only have a max of 5 min capacity like I do and you need to rest for an hour or return to it the next day you can admire your progress and feel good about yourself the whole time. Making beds is great because it is a huge space and proportion of the room that feels clean and neat for minimal effort. The floor might be so messy it is impossible to navigate, but at least the bed is a break for the eye and motivate to tackle a corner next time.

I totally did this. My enthusiasm attracted my 7 year old daughter and she helped me clean out the fridge. Double win! 🙌🏼 Love the story at the end. 😂 Always.

Passively watching because I'm at work, but this actually seems like something that'll help, even with ADHD in the mix. Standing up is usually the hardest part.

I regularly rewatch this one when I’m not feeling the most motivated to get up and get things done. Just body doubling with you chatting in the background helps me. Thank you

I didn’t right now because this is my time to relax with a cup of coffee, but I am 100% going to do this when it’s time to get busy in about 15 min. Love you Cass. Your personality, enthusiasm, and encouragement is a gift.

Another Cass saying to add to my mental arsenal. My favorite is “if it takes less than a minute, do it now”. That one has really cut down on the out of place clutter! Thanks Cass!

I actually already knew about the trick of saying "I get to" instead of "I have to." And I actually did it earlier this morning! I'm trying to remember to do it more often. Oh, and btw, you blow Tony Robbins out of the water with your motivating skills! ✨

I NEVER do what the person in the video tells me to do but I did and I’m so glad. I was having such a zero energy day and feeling guilty for accomplishing NOTHING. Now I feel like I can tackle my to-do list by telling myself I get to do life! And that I deserve to have a sane/manageable plan for the things I choose to do. I saved this video because I don’t ever want to forget this. Thank you 🙏 😊

Even though I’m home alone (hubby at work) I was embarrassed to get up and get excited. I quietly said “woohoo, I can do this today” it felt pretty good, so I stood up and did it again. Before I knew it I was dancing around like a crazy person. I’m sure if my neighbors would have seen me they would have either joined me or had me committed! My energy level went from 2 to 10 in about 3 minutes. AMAZING! I turned on some music and away I went. I also took a few minutes to change my mindset from “I have to do this” to “ I am so blessed to have a beautiful home to clean.” Thank you Cas, this Ladybug 🐞 is a happy camper, with no crickets 🦗 😂

I actually was watching this when I took a break from cleaning and organizing our kitchen and cleaning it. Even with the physical problems I have I try to keep myself motivated to do them, its a lot right now because we are taking care of my father-in-law and there is a lot of stuff accumulated every where in the house and trying to organize and declutter is a hassle, Dad is wanting everything out and visible and is a lot of clutter. I like everything is its place with a few things out on the counters that are used everyday but like things put out of the way when not using them. It's a small kitchen with very little counter and cabinet space, but I'm making it work for me since i cook most of the time - Bri

Saying it in my head: not much.
Saying it out loud in a noisy room just barely loud enough to hear "I deserve a clean house": chills.
Thank you. I love it. ❤️

YES! I got up and put clean sheets on my bed! Less than 15 minutes and I will sleep better tonight! Thank you, Cass!
