Learning how to get your music heard without radio ties directly into your music marketing strategy. Once you understand basic music marketing you'll have a better understanding of how to promote your music online, but what about traditional radio? Some say that radio is dead while the numbers tell a slightly different story. In this video I discuss a common misconception about radio play that I've been getting a lot of questions about. If you're interested in starting a music career then I suggest watching this one.

Probably some of the best information I’ve found in years and years of trying to get out there! I held myself back because I was always trying to use what everybody else was using.... studio equip, guitars, microphones, etc. When I should’ve been just using what I have! That’s it’s! Thank you

Streaming is the now and the future. But yes, building a brand online is definitely right and its also good to build relationships in person as well.

@4:02 Appreciate the shout out bro! And you were pretty spot on. How it happened was that I went to a beat battle, met a guy, he had dope beats. He was from Pontiac, Michigan. I'm from Detroit. We got cool. He's cool with a battle rapper named ill Will. ill Will is from Pontiac too, he knows Method Man. They did a song together but they didn't like the beat that they did it on. ill Will reached out to my buddy that I met at Beat Battles, my buddy came to me so we could put it together and the rest is history. That would have never happened if I had not went to those events. I never would have met my buddy Genius On The Beat if I would have stayed in the house. He's also not a very social media type person so I would have never met him on social media. So there's opportunities lurking around every corner. You just gotta go outside and put your best foot out there. Building relationships is EXTREMELY important in the music industry.

Thanks again for the shout out bro. It means a lot. #Salute

One of our songs ("Cabin in the Woods") was picked up and played a few times by a local station in Cincinnati. This was actually a big step for the Softstone Hearts brand, because even though we're still small, it seemed legitimize our music for the friends and fans that were already following and engaged in our music.

As far as radio being a 'magic key' that brings musical success - radio won't do that, and I totally agree with you. I would say that it's valuable in terms of the social proof that you're serious about music, as well as also being helpful in terms of marketing. (For example, we made a BIG DEAL out of our radio premiere across all our social channels. It gave us something to talk about and push. Again, a valuable tool and a great situation - but not a magic bullet and not an amazing way to recruit tons of new fans quickly.)

I have had my music played on local radio. Multiple songs on multiple stations, over multiple years. I can't say it has made a big difference.

I'm glad you made this video Adam. Me personally have been on a couple local radio stations for interviews and music but it Honestly didnt effect my music career. Me promoting it to my fans via Facebook and YouTube was the only way I got people to tune into the radio show. Plus they have been the most popular platforms for me. I can get my brand across simple and easy without spamming people along with connecting with fans.

Bro said "Fuck off if you Unsubscribe" LMAO!! Yo, we're with you 100%, Adam! The reason WHY this brother "takes a little long" (which it is NOT long!) is because he's honest and passionate bout what he's saying... and he gives a shit! I've been in the game professionally for YEARS.... and STILL learning new things everyday! I'm just glad you're being VERY consistent bro!! Salute & Support!

Here's the thing. I live in Serbia, which is currently under a repressive government, which purges pretty much everyone that thinks and speaks differently. I had a lot of air time (since Im a pop singer/songwriter mostly) on all radio stations until 2014, when they overtook all the media etc, and since then I cant even get a play on a small local radio station. Im constantly promoting my music, doing ads and loosing money to facebook, instagram and google, and idk what to do anymore tbh.. Im in touch with a bunch major pop artists here, and some of them are fans of my music, and they constantly tell me that if someone else sang my songs - they would be popular af.. which is probably true, because I produced a bunch of number hits for major pop artists, and stars in the making.
Now, my music is not dumbed down, you have to have a working brain to understand it, but the internet promotion is just not the way on the Balkans, as it seems.
