You are probably wondering how long does SEO take to work for a new website?

It depends a little, but as a rule of thumb it takes about one to four weeks for Google to index your new site, and 4-6 months to really see some traffic from Google, but keep in mind this assumes work and dedication from your part
to get these results.

In this video, I’ll first talk about how long it takes for Google to index your site, and then about the rankings in Google. And I’ll share my tips on how to increase your chances to rank higher.

Alright, since you have a new site it will be probably indexed within the first 4 weeks.
Usually, it takes less than a week. But this just means that Google is aware of your site.
It doesn’t mean you will appear even in the top 100 search results.

If you can see your website appearing, that means Google has crawled and indexed your site.

Now to get your site indexed quicker make sure you do the following:

You can just start crossing them from your to-do list one by one.

If you are using WordPress, all of this will probably take you an hour or two.

Ok to really start seeing people coming to your site from Google, it can take up to four to six months to get some traffic, so at this point, you would start ranking for long-tail keywords so for the lower traffic keywords. But keep in mind you do need to work hard on producing high-quality content.

Oh btw. Long-tail keywords just mean keywords that have more than four words in them, so there are also fewer people searching for the specific keyword. But it’s also less competitive.

To rank for the high traffic keywords, it might take years. That’s why it’s easier to rank for niche keywords when you start out.

Now please note this graph is not specifically for new websites. But I think it illustrates the differences really clearly.

Since your website is totally new, you have no authority as a site. That puts you at a disadvantage in search results because Google trusts older websites more than new ones. Because older websites have built that trust over the years.

There is great research done by hrefs, that dig deeper into this.

In their study, they found that the age of a page and Google rankings go hand in hand.

They took 2 million random keywords and pulled data on the Top 10 ranking pages for each of them.

So their conclusion form the study was that 95% of newly published pages don’t get to the top 10 within a year.

And that 5% that do get in top 10. It takes them from two to six months. But please note this study is for new pages, not new domains.

Unfortunately, there is no magic trick or one tip that will boost you to the top of search results.

SEO is a long term game and you will succeed in it if you keep improving your site and your skills.

For example, set aside an hour a week to learn more about SEO.And another hour or two to implement what you’ve learned on your site.

Bro! I have a question. I bought a new domain and I used a migration plugin to migrate the whole website to the new domain.. Now I requested indexing on all the blog posts on my new domain and google search console says that all my pages are indexed. And indeed I can find the pages from the new domain on google (by searching for them).

Can I delete the old domain? So that there is no double information in de search engine?

If so, how do I delete this domain from google search engine?
